Eastland Citizens Advisory Committee to Meet February 2

With the help of a Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC), the Eastland Board of Education developed and adopted a Strategic Plan in February, 2006. Since that time, the Board has periodically revised the plan. In those revisions, they have always sought input to guide their decision-making.

In that spirit, and to the goal of continuous improvement, they have again asked the superintendent to convene a Citizens’ Advisory Committee to evaluate and respond to proposed plans for the next four years. Like all schools throughout the state and country, Eastland is in a period of unprecedented changes and challenges. A common vision and shared commitment will be critical to our continued success.

It is our hope that you can attend a meeting at the Eastland Elementary School, 200 S. School St. in Lanark, on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 6:00 p.m.

A tentative agenda for the meeting will be as follows:

- Review progress on previous strategic objectives

- Present Vision 2015 for the Eastland Schools

- Present a Future Facility Plan for the Eastland Schools

- Solicit feedback on the presentations (to share with the Board of Education)

A representative of the CAC will be invited to present the Committee’s responses to the Board at a special or regular meeting in February.

West Carroll Primary Family Reading Night

WCPS will hold a Family Reading Night on Thursday, January 19, 2012 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. This is a free event for all of our West Carroll students, Kindergarten through 5th grade, and their families.

Some of the fun events of the night include an Under the Stars campground experience, a Poetry Café, a Slumber Party with guest readers, Book Swap, Snack Shack, and more. This is an event created for an evening of reading fun for the family.
