Morrison Police Charge Two Individuals in Dollar General Burglary
On Thursday, January 10, 2013, Morrison Police charged the following two individuals with Burglary, Class 2 Felony, following a multi-law enforcement agency investigation.
Stephen M. Sato, age 32 of 6226 N. Francisco Ave., Chicago
Julie Korotkov, age 37 of 5923 N. Central Ave., Chicago
On Saturday, January 5, 2013 Morrison Police released information of a Burglary investigation that occurred at the Dollar General in Morrison on Thursday, January 3, 2013. At approximately 4:45 p.m., at least two suspects entered the Dollar General. As one suspect distracted employees, the other suspect entered the break room, stole employees’ wallets, and then left the store. The employees’ credit cards were later used in businesses in Clinton, Iowa and possibly the Quad City Area.
As the investigation evolved, it was discovered that this Burglary was connected to other similar Dollar General Burglaries that occurred in Fulton on December 31, 2012 and in Port Byron on January 3, 2013.
With the help of the media, social media, and area law enforcement, the Fulton Police Department executed arrest and search warrants in rural Thomson on Tuesday, January 8, 2013. Sato and Korotkov were taken into custody at that time and remain in the Whiteside County Jail with bond set at $200,000 for each.
