The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office is investigating burglaries at the two quarries located just north of the IL 73 and IL 72 intersection north of Lanark. These burglaries probably occurred around the Christmas holidays. Unknown subjects took from one quarry, a spool with about 400 feet of heavy 4 conductor insulated copper wire on it and a Clark EN130 welder blue and black in color. At the other quarry the thieves stripped the heavy wire running the length of 3 conveyors. Loss and damage at each quarry is in excess of $2000.00. Suspects used the quarry skid steer to move the stolen wire to the roadside. If you have any information about these crimes, please contact Crime Stoppers.
