Dakota 52 Milledgeville 25

The visiting Lady Indians jumped out to a twenty one to four first quarter lead and cruised to the twenty seven point win. Dakota held a thirty one to ten lead at the half and extended that lead to fifty to eighteen at the start of the final quarter. The Lady Missiles were held to single digit scoring in each of the four quarters.

Jennifer Lane led Dakota in scoring with thirteen points while teammate Aleesha Cleaver added a dozen. Milledgeville’s Carli Hunter led the Lady Missiles with seven points while teammates Elizabeth Bryant and Rebecca Whitmarsh both added five points each.

River Ridge/Scales Mound 43 Pearl City 28

A big fourth quarter by River Ridge/Scales Mound broke open a close game and propelled the Lady Wildcats to the fifteen point victory. Pearl City trailed by just four points (11-7) after the first quarter and RR/SM led by three points (21-18) at the half. The lead grew to seven points (29-22) going into quarter four and the Lady Wildcats outscored Pearl City fourteen to six in the final quarter.

Megan Altfillisch led the Lady Wildcats, dropping in sixteen points to lead all scorers in the contest. Teammate Kaitlyn Pleau added nine points for River Ridge/Scales Mound. Ashley Cropper who scored nine points and pulled down nine rebounds led the Lady Wolves. Erica Albrecht added five points for Pearl City.

Le-Win 46 West Carroll 24

A close first half was broken open in the third quarter as the Lady Panthers rolled to the twenty two point win. Le-Win led eleven to seven going into the second quarter and led by six points (22-16) at the half. A thirteen to two third quarter scoring advantage put the Lady Panthers in control and they outscored the Lady Thunder eleven to six in the final period to take the win.

Le-Win had eight different players put points on the board led by Liz Moest’s eight points. Teammates Heidi Gahm, Courtney Haight and Chelsea Block each added seven points. Ieshia Larson who scored eight points led the Lady Thunder. West Carroll won the fresh/soph contest 42-37.

Forreston 67 Orangeville 42

The Lady Cardinals put up twenty seven first quarter points on the Lady Broncos and cruised to the twenty five point victory. Forreston’s lead grew to twenty three points (46-23) at the half and twenty six points (58-32) going into the final quarter. The Lady Cardinals had three different players score in double figures, led by Ketarah DeVries nineteen points with teammates Emily Korf scoring fifteen and Anna Drake dropping in ten points. Julia Behring who scored thirteen points led Orangeville.

January 18

Winnebago 43 Eastland 33

A big first quarter scoring advantage propelled Winnebago to the ten point win over the Lady Cougars on Wednesday evening in Winnebago. The Lady Indians jumped out to a seventeen to four first quarter lead and held a ten point lead (22-12) at the intermission. Eastland managed to cut into that lead, trailing by seven points (33-26) going into the final quarter. Winnebago outscored Eastland ten to seven in quarter four to make the final margin of victory.

Lizzy Leden topped Winnebago with twenty points. Eastland was led in scoring by Lexis Macomber who dropped in eleven points with Kayla Barnes adding ten.

Forreston 56 Milledgeville 25

The Lady Missiles hosted the Lady Cardinals and Forreston took control of the game early, cruising to the thirty one point win. The Lady Cardinals led thirteen to six at the end of the first quarter and led twenty five to thirteen at the half. A twenty four to four third quarter Forreston scoring advantage put the game out of reach for Milledgeville. Emily Korf, Ketarah DeVries and Hannah Curry all scored ten ponts to lead Forreston in the scoring column. Milledgeville was led by Rebecca Whitmarsh who scored nine points. The Lady Missiles won the fresh/soph game 22-19.

January 20

Forreston 45 Durand 24

Durand led five to three after the first quarter but Forreston came charging back to outscore the Lady Bulldogs twenty to six in quarter two to take a twenty three to eleven lead they would never relinquish enroute to the twenty one point win. The Lady Cardinals led by ten points (30-20) going into quarter four and outscored Durand fifteen to four in the final period. Ketarah DeVries led Forreston with seventeen points and teammate Megan Corry added ten points. Durand took the fresh/soph contest 31-18.

January 21

Oregon 61 Eastland 40

The Lady Hawks took a twenty three to four first quarter lead and cruised to the twenty one point win over the Lady Cougars. Oregon led by fourteen points (31-17) at the half and extended their lead to twenty seven points (52-25) going into the final quarter. Eastland managed to take a fifteen to nine fourth quarter scoring advantage but it was too much of a lead to overcome. The Lady Hawks Sam Lambrigsten led all scorers in the game with nineteen points. Eastland’s Lexis Macomber led the Lady Cougars with a dozen points and teammate Marissa Harris added eight points.

Milledgeville 61 South Beloit 17

The Lady Missiles held South Beloit to single digit scoring in each of the four quarters as they rolled to the lopsided forty four point win. Milledgeville led thirteen to seven after the first quarter and extended their lead to twenty eight to fourteen at the half. That lead grew to twenty eight points (44-16) going into quarter four and they outscored South Beloit seventeen to one in the final period. The Lady Missiles Rebecca Whitmarsh led all scorers in the game with twenty nine points.

Manny’s West Carroll Shootout

Benton/Shullsburg 55 West Carroll 26

Benton/Shullsburg and West Carroll opened the 5th Annual West Carroll “Manny’s” Shootout on Saturday morning at West Carroll Middle School in Mt. Carroll. Benton/Shullsburg opended a twelve to seven first quarter lead and outscored the Lady Thunder seventeen to eight in quarter two to take a twenty nine to fifteen lead at the intermission. The Lady Thunder were held scoreless in the third quarter as Benton/Shullsburg extended their lead to thirty nine to fifteen going into the final quarter. The Zephyr/Miners outscored the Lady Thunder sixteen to eleven in quarter four to make the final margin of victory. Blair Lutes led all scorers in the game scoring twenty seven points for Benton/Shullsburg. Aliesha Handel led West Carroll with eight points and Ieshia Larson added seven points.

Sterling Newman 55 Morrison 38

The host Comets were less than gracious as they took control early and rolled to the seventeen point win over the Mustangs Tuesday night in Sterling. Newman led thirteen to eight after one and extended their lead to a dozen points (31-19) at the halftime intermission. The lead grew to fourteen points (40-26) gong into the fourth quarter. The Comets outscored Morrison fifteen to twelve in quarter four to make the final margin of victory. Tim Wilson who dumped in twenty points with teammate Mike Lee adding a dozen led Newman. Landon Nelson and Bill Bos who each scored eleven points led the Mustangs. Sterling Newman also won the fresh/soph game by a scored of 68-34.

January 18

Eastland 72 Le-Win 57

Despite a close first half, the Cougars took control in the second half and rolled to the fifteen point win. Eastland led by four (12-8) after the first quarter and held a three point (30-27) lead at the half. A twenty five to seventeen third quarter put the Cougars in control and they outscored the Panthers seventeen to thirteen in the final quarter.

Eastland had eleven different players put points on the scoreboard, led by Tyler Giedd’s sixteen points with Dalton Shaner adding fifteen. Le-Win was led by Adam Werhane who scored twenty points.

E. Dubuque 65 River Ridge 51

The Warriors led by just four points (19-15) going into the second quarter but outscored the Wildcats nineteen to eight in period two to take a thirty eight to twenty three lead at the half. River Ridge used a twenty two to ten third quarter scoring advantage to climb back in the contest, trailing by three points (48-45) going into quarter four. A seventeen to six fourth quarter put East Dubuque in control for the win.

Adam Lange topped all scorers in the game, dumping in thirty six points with teammate Tyler Kraft adding fourteen points. River Ridge was led by Cody Landwer who scored eighteen points with Ryan Merkle and Tony Hernandez each adding eleven points.

West Carroll 70 Stockton 54

The Thunder traveled to Stockton on Wednesday night and came home with the sixteen point victory. West Carroll led twenty one to seventeen after one and led thirty seven to twenty four at the half. They extended that lead to fourteen points (52-38) going into quarter four and outscored the Blackhawks eighteen to sixteen in the final period. Eric Naples led West Carroll with nineteen points and Brady Edwards added fourteen. Stockton was led by Cole Schamberger’s twenty three points with teammate Jared Hess adding twenty two points.

Thunder head coach Josh Knuth, commenting on his squad’s performance said, “We played an athletic good shooting team and we were able to make enough plays to win the game which is good but we didn’t play real well for stretches. We need to learn to bring it every night and get better everyday if we want to be the best we can be. We have to play more consistent.”

January 19

Winnebago 45 West Carroll 43

The Thunder traveled to Winnebago on Thursday and the Indians came away with the narrow two point victory. Winnebago led by eight points (15-7) after one quarter and West Carroll cut into that lead going into the half trailing the Indians by four points (22-18). Winnebago extended their lead to three points (33-30) going into quarter number four. The Thunder managed to outscore the Indians by a point in the final period but could get no closer. Matt Reinke led Winnebago with sixteen points and teammate Jacoby Posely added ten points. The Thunder were led by Brady Edwards who scored fourteen points with Jason Bacero adding nine.

Thunder head coach Josh Knuth said, “We didn’t play very well. We can’t turn the ball over twenty two times and expect to beat good teams. We have a lot of work to do in order to become the team we need to be.”

Pearl City 53 E. Dubuque 44

East Dubuque jumped out to a sixteen to five first quarter lead before the host Wolves exploded for twenty five second quarter pints to take control of this game. Pearl City held the Warriors to just five second quarter points to hold a thirty to twenty one halftime lead. Pearl City pushed that lead to ten points (43-33) going into quarter four and held of East Dubuque to take the win. Zach Moyer led Pearl City with twenty three points and teammates Jason Kurth and Zach Downs added thirteen and twelve points respectively. Jason Schneider led the Warriors with ten points.

January 21

Preston, IA 61 Milledgeville 40

The Trojans jumped out to a ten to four first quarter lead and held Milledgeville to eight second quarter points while putting up sixteen more to take a twenty six to twelve lead at the half. Preston extended their lead to twenty one points (44-23) after three and held that lead in the final period to take the easy win. The Trojans had nine different players put up points with Logan Wilhelm and Andrew Snodgrass leading the way, each dropping in thirteen points. Milledgeville was led by Jordan Harris who scored eleven points with teammate Zach Herin adding eight.

The Pioneers and Thunder battled it out in the finale of the West Carroll “Manny’s” Shootout Saturday evening with the Thunder taking the narrow three point victory. West Carroll took a sixteen to nine first quarter lead but Alleman closed that lead to just four points (32-28) at the half. The Thunder outscored the Pioneers sixteen to fourteen in the third quarter and held off a furious Alleman charge in quarter number four to escape with the win.

Eric Naples led the Thunder with twenty two points and teammate Brady Edwards added sixteen points. Rock Island Alleman was led by Tyler Yeocum who scored twenty three pints for the Pioneers.

Pearl City 59 River Ridge 46

The Wolves hosted the Wildcats on Saturday evening and took the thirteen point victory. Pearl City led by three points (14-11) at the end of quarter one and extended their lead to nine points (33-24) at the half. The lead was a dozen points (48-36) after three quarters and the Wolves outscored River Ridge fourteen to eleven in the final quarter to take the victory. Pearl City’s Zach Moyer led the Wolves with eighteen points, eleven coming in the second half and teammate Jason Kurth added fifteen, with thirteen coming after the half. The Wilcats were led by Tony Hernandez who scored sixteen points.

Eastland 71 Warren 32

The Cougars jumped out to a twenty to four first quarter lead and rolled to the easy thirty nine point win. Warren was held to single digit scoring in each of the first three quarters as Eastland built a lead the Warriors to not overcome. The Cougars led forty two to nine at the half and sixty to sixteen going into the final quarter. Eleven different players put points on the board for Eastland, led by Ty Hartman’s fourteen points with Chase Wilhelms adding eleven. Warren was led by Austin Williams who scored ten points for the Warriors.
