Carroll County Farm Bureau

By Chastity Welch, Farm Bureau Manager

Holiday Citrus and Nut order forms are now available! Yes that time of year has come upon us already. This year we will not be mailing forms to all members. We are mailing them to anyone who has purchased in the last two years. They are also available on our website at www.carrollcfb.org, at our office, and available by giving us a call. I will forewarn you the apples have really jumped in price. In fact I questioned whether it was a typo or not and contacted our supplier to verify the price was correct.

The Women’s Committee will again be doing fruit baskets which make a wonderful gift. The fruit baskets include oranges, apples, grapefruit, tangelos, bananas, caramels and popcorn. You can also upgrade your basket to include some nuts. Prices range from $14-$23. All of our fruits, nuts, and baskets are available to members and non-members. Orders are due by November 14th, so don’t hesitate to get your order placed!

This year we are again offering a free family portrait to Carroll County Farm Bureau members. Katie Lynn Photography will be taking pictures here at the office on Saturday, November 24 and Sunday, November 25. The hours on Saturday will be 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. and on Sunday 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. As an expression of our appreciation for your participation and membership in your organization, we have made arrangements to provide you with … a FREE 8” x 10” full color portrait of your family.

Call our office at 815-244-3001 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday to reserve your sitting. Appointments are limited to a first-come, first-serve basis, so please call today.

This program is limited to one (1) FREE portrait per sitting, one (1) sitting per family, not per membership. Children under 18 must be accompanied by adult in the free portrait. You may wish to invite GRANDPARENTS, PARENTS, and CHILDREN for a generation portrait. With it being Thanksgiving weekend, it is a perfect time to get everyone together for a family photo.

Would you like to improve your leadership skills? Would you like to be more confident in your public speaking ability? Would you like to expand your knowledge about agriculture and global issues? Would you like to build lasting relationships with others who share the same concerns for the ag industry? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, Illinois Farm Bureau’s® “Agricultural Leaders of Tomorrow” (ALOT) program is for you.

The 2013 ALOT program includes weekly sessions taught by a diverse group of educators or experts in the following four areas of study: Communication Skills; Political Process; Ag Economics; and Global Issues.

A total of 1016 individuals have participated in ALOT since its inception in 1979. We have had 5 people attend this program from our county. These attendees have used the knowledge they gained through ALOT to become farm professionals who know how to shape and profit from the changing face of agriculture.

Eight weekly sessions will be held at one of the following locations: Rockford Holiday Inn, Stephenson County Farm Bureau, DeKalb County Farm Bureau & Ogle County Farm Bureau. Three overnight sessions will be held in Rockford, Springfield, and Bloomington. Application deadline is November 16th, so contact our office today for an application.
