Erie Takes Morrison In Three

The Cardinals posted a three game win over Morrison on Tuesday night in Erie. Erie won by scores of 25-17, 16-25 & 25-19. Tess Burns led Erie with eight kills and five aces, while Katelyn Garrison chipped in with six aces and seven kills. Shelby McBride led the Fillies with seventeen assists and Erin Carney had seven kills.

Eastland Tops Stockton

The Lady Cougars took two straight from the Blackhawks in Lanark on Thursday night by scores of 25-18 and 25-13. A balanced attack led by Katelyn Hasken who had five aces and served for fifteen points led Eastland to the win. Eastland (21-2, 10-1) was also helped by Hope Linker's seventeen assists and five blocks. Kerby Kness had twelve digs and Megan Bunyer chipped in with eight kills. Courtney Blair had seven kills, two blocks and five digs.

Morrison Beats Amboy

The Fillies took two of three from Amboy in a Thursday Three River game in Amboy, 25-19, 19-25 and 25-20. Shelby McBride led Morrison with 19 kills, while Erin Carney added seven kills and Chelsea King had six.

Lady Missiles Take Two From Aquin

Milledgeville took two straight from Freeport Aquin Thursday night in Freeport by scores of 25-15 and 25-18. Brianna Herin led Milledgeville with eleven digs, four aces and six kills while teammate Keali Engelkens had eight kills and nine digs. Andrea Herin added a team high twenty assists for Milledgeville.

West Carroll Over River Ridge

The Thunder took two straight from River Ridge in Hanover, 25-14 and 25-20. Becca Fritz had seven kills for West Carroll while Chelsey Sipe added three kills for the Lady Thunder.

Stillman Valley Volleyball Tournament

The West Carroll varsity volleyball team will compete in the Stillman Valley Fall Classic on Friday, October 23rd and Sturday, October 24th. The tournament will be played in both the Stillman Valley High School gym and the Meridian Junior High School gym.

Other teams entered are AFC, Freeport Aquin, Rockford Boylan, Byron, Eastland, Fulton, Harvard, Indian Creek, Le-Win, Milledgeville, Oregon, Prophetstown, Stillman Valley and Winnebago. West Carroll will start the tournament in pool play against Milledgeville on Friday following the Stillman Valley/Harvard game, which begins at 4:00.

Admission on Friday will be $3.00 for adults; senior citizens and students $2.00; under 6 are free. Saturday's admission will be $5.00 all day for adults; senior citizens and students are $4.00 and under 6 are free. A concession stand will be available both days.

West Carroll Basketball Shootout

Manny's and West Carroll Middle School present the Manny's West Carroll Shootout on Saturday, January 23, 2010 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the West Carroll Middle School, 633 East Street (Route 64 & East St.) in Mt. Carroll.

West Carroll Senior Night

Friday, October 23rd is senior night for the West Carroll football cheerleaders, marching band and flag corps members. The Thunder football team will compete against Dakota with the fresh/soph kick off at 5:30.

This will be the last home football game for senior cheerleaders Jessie Themas, Paige Nevills, Avery Handel, Randy Long and Shelby Roach.

Marching band members that will be recognized are: Florence Brehm, Maria Heath, Becky Titus, Nadia Bull, Megan Fitzpatrick, Beccah Yuswak, Carrie Brinkmeier, Cassie Meade, Randi Long, Cassy Vos, Seth Brandt and Ryan Atherton.

It will also be the last performance for senior flag corps members Breeanna Much, Deeanna Much, Valerie White and Mercedes Zielinnski.

IHSA Playoff Pairing Show

The 2009 IHSA playoff pairing show will air on Saturday, October 24th beginning at 7:30 pm on WCCI radio 100.3 FM. The show will include a panel discussion, announcement of the pairings and live interviews with area coaches.

Wildcats Fall To Panthers

The Le-Win Panthers scored eighteen second half points to erase an early EPC lead and take the 25-18 victory in Lena. The Wildcats (6-2, 4-2) scored on a 51 yard run in the first to take a 6-0 lead. They then took a 12-7 into halftime when Alex Walker ran one in from 25 yards out.

The Trey Griffin show then commenced with Griffin scoring on runs of 2, 37 and 20 yards in the second half. Alex Maurer led the Wildcats with 104 yards on 19 carries. Drake Walker completed 4 of 8 passes for 82 yards for EPC. Zack Edmond ran the ball 13 times for 124 yards for the Panther while Griffin added 92 yards on 24 carries.

EPC finishes the regular season at home (Lanark) against the Pecatonica Indians.

Missiles Grounded By Dakota

The Milledgeville Missiles had no answers Friday night in Dakota as the Indians shut out Milledgeville 37-0. Dakota scored in every quarter, taking a 17-0 lead into the second half. The Indians Evan Dornink scored twice for Dakota on runs of 10 and 14 yards. Dornink led the Indians with 114 yards on 20 touches. Dillon Eich led Milledgeville with 29 yards on 8 carries. The Missiles end their season at home against the Polo Marcos.

West Carroll Eliminated From Playoffs

The Pecatonica Indians scored ten fourth quarter points to erase a 12-3 West Carroll lead to take the 13-12 win. Pecatonica kicked a 23 yard field goal with seconds left to drop the Thunder out of playoff contention. West Carroll's Ethan Baisden led the Thunder with 115 yards on 19 carries and two touchdowns. David Walter added 70 yards on 15 carries. The Thunder end their year in Savanna against the Dakota Indians.

Morrison Makes It Look Easy Against Erie-Prophetstown

Morrison remains undefeated with a convincing 47-13 victory over Erie-Prophetstown on Friday in Morrison at Cole Field. The Mustangs amassed 458 total yards to E-P's 205. The Mustangs went to work early, as Kyle Janssen returned an interception 23 yards on the games second play from scrimmage.

QB Andrew Cook then hooked up with Will Bird for a 22 yard scoring strike. The top ranked (2A) Mustangs got another excellent effort from Josh Vos, who ran for 194 yards on 17 carries and 3 TDs. Janssen added 62 yards on 8 carrries. Morrison ends their regular season in Fulton against the Steamers on Friday night.
