Polo Slips Past Cuba North Fulton

POLO ­ The Polo Marcos are still alive in the postseason. Polo held off Cuba North Fulton in the Illinois High School Association playoffs Saturday, defeating the Wildcats 32-30.

Polo quarterback Matt School carried the biggest offensive load for the Marcos, rushing 42 times for 327 yards and three touchdowns. Drew Cheatham rushed 11 times for 34 yards and one touchdown as part of the Polo triumph.

The two teams battled back and forth. Polo eased out of the first quarter ahead 7-3. Cuba North Fulton carried a 17-14 lead into halftime. Polo, hosting the Wildcats in the second round matchup, caught up and passes Cuba North Fulton on more than one occasion. The Marcos outscored Cuba North Fulton 15-6 in the third quarter en route to the postseason win.

Matt VanOosten and Brandon Wiggins also rushed for positive yardage as the Marcos prevailed.

Scholl was 0-for-3 in the passing department with an interception.

Kicker Drew Mitchell provided the game-winning score for Polo when he connected on a 21-yard field goal in the final quarter.

EHS Volleyball Fan Bus Schedule

Eastland High School Volleyball Fan Bus for students and the general public. Cost is $5.00 per person. Friday November 14, 2008. It will depart at 5 am from EHS and return at approximately 2 pm. Saturday November 15, 2008, consolation game will depart at 5 am from EHS and for the championship game will depart at 6 am from EHS. The return time for Saturday is approximately 4 pm. Reserve your seats by signing up and paying at the Eastland High School office before NOON on Thursday.

West Carroll Fall Sports Awards

West Carroll High School's fall sports awards' night will be held on Tuesday, November 18th starting at 7 pm. After a brief opening for all attendees, the golf team, volleyball team, and football team and cheerleading squads will separate and give out their post-season awards.
