Mustangs Survive And Advance Against Orion

The legs of running back Josh Voss and a stingy Morrison defense was the key Saturday as the Mustangs survived an attempt by the Orion Chargers at the upset. Vos scored the first time he touched the football and a couple key turnovers by the Mustang defense preserved the 14-7 Morrison win to advance them to next Saturdays semifinal game against 11-1 Gibson City.

Morrison got on the board first as running back Josh Vos scored from 32 yards out to give the Mustangs a 7-0 lead. The Chargers, who controlled the ball for most of the first half, led Morrison in yardage 159-86 in half number one, drove into Mustang territory three times but were turned away each time.

The Chargers were able to tie the score at seven midway through the third quarter on a six yard TD reception by Jared Simmer. After halftime the Morrison squad turned the ball over to Vos as he carried the ball 19 times for 110 yards in the second half. He scored the game winning touchdown with a little under five minutes to play on a 42 yard run. Will Bird and Kyle Janssen then made two key interceptions to seal the deal for Morrison.

Morrison (12-0) was led by Vos, who carried the ball 24 times for 163 yards.
