Despite the game being close early, the Aurora Christian Eagles took control to run away with the 41-7 victory in Saturday’s IHSA Class 3A semifinal contest at Roscoe Eades Stadium in Sterling.

The Eagles struck first as Aurora Christian QB Ryan McQuade found Cory Windle for a sixteen yard scoring strike. The Comets fumbled the ensuing kickoff which was recover by the Eagles Trevor Hills on Newman’s thirty seven yard line. Aurora Christian found the endzone again with McQuade hooking up with Windle on a twenty six yard TD pass.

The Comets got on the scoreboard as they completed a thirteen play, sixty nine yard drive, capped off by a four yard TD run by Jake Snow.

It was all Eagles from there as AC head coach Don Beebe’s son Chad snagged a fourteen yard touchdown pass. Beebe would add a nineteen yard TD pass catch later in the quarter. A sixty four yard fumble recovery for a touchdown by Aurora Christian’s MJ Zepeda extended the Eagles lead and the rout was on.

Aurora Christian piled up three hundred fifty one yards of offense to Sterling Newman’s one hundred eighty four. The Eagles ground game was led by QB McQuade who rushed for two hundred nine yards and a score. He also completed twelve of twenty one passes for one hundred fifty six yards and four scores.
