Chadwick-Milledgeville School Board Meets

The Regular Meeting of the Chadwick-Milledgeville Community Unit School District #399 Board of Education was held at the Milledgeville School on Monday, November 17, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.

Superintendent Roy Web recommended that the Board approve the following consensus items unanimously as presented: The minutes of the October 20 regular meeting, bills for November, Hot Lunch Report for October, and the Student Activity Fund Account Summary for October. The Treasurer's Report for October indicated that the school district received 61% of their projected revenues and made 45% of their projected expenditures.

The board approved a sign donation from Info Tag and Paul Skoog. The Board also formally thanked several local businesses for their donations during the football play-offs. They also received thank you notes from Nancy Jogerst, the family of Howard Bolen, and Brian Rahn.

The motion to adopt the 2008-2009 Tax Levy in the amount of $2,544,600 passed unanimously.

The Board introduced and had the first reading of the new School Board Policy Manual. The second reading and approval of the document will be at the December 15 Board Meeting. The auditor's report for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2008 was also approved unanimously.

The Board agreed to post the following positions for the 2009-10 School Year: high school Ag/Ag science, junior high math, junior high language arts, an education intervention specialist (special education/ reading specialist).

A motion was made to uphold a student suspension as discussed. Voice vote showed unanimous approval.

FFA members Mitchel Rahn, Rachel Rahn, Angel Looney, Tom Nelson and FFA Advisor Dave Queckboerner reported on their trip to the 81st Annual FFA National Convention in Indianapolis, IN on October 21-25, 2008.

The Board heard an update on the district's progress on Board Goals. They also discussed objectives for the Board Retreat. The Board set the meeting date for this event for 8:00 AM on January 31, 2009, at the Milledgeville State Bank. They will develop a survey to help guide this meeting. The focus of the retreat will be on academics and instruction. The Board's upcoming visit to the IASB Convention in Chicago November 21-23 was discussed.

The Board reviewed the agendas of the October 24 School Improvement Teacher Meeting and the October 30 Teacher Institute Meeting. This included autism and reading instruction. Summaries of the Thursday and Friday, October 30-31, Parent/Teacher Conference parent survey results for each building were reviewed, as were the results of the Town Hall Meeting held on 30 October at Chadwick School.

The next meeting will be December 15, 2008 at 7:00 PM at the Milledgeville High School Library.
