Danté Robbins, an 8th grade student at Eastland Jr./Sr. High School is a member of the Freeport Blue Fins Swim Team (hosted by the YMCA) participated in a meet in Dixon where he received a 1st place finish in the 200m Freestyle competition along with a 2nd place in the 100m Freestyle and 50m Freestyle on Sat., Oct. 19th.
In the Belvidere Swim Meet on Sat., Oct. 26th Danté received two 1st place finishes in the 50m Freestyle and again in the 200m Freestyle. He also brought in a 2nd place finish in the 100m Freestyle there.
Danté is the only member from Lanark to participate in this swimming competition and more great finishes are still to come.

EPC Crushes Luther North
In a mismatch from the opening kickoff, the EPC Wildcatz scored early and often as the cruised to the lopsided 54-8 win in the opening round of the Class 2A football playoffs on Saturday afternoon in Pearl City.
Four first quarter touchdowns provided all the offense the ‘Catz would need on the day as Donny Groezinger scored three times and teammate Eric Schaney found the endzone once to make it 28-0 after one quarter of play.
The Wildcats from Chicago Luther North had no answers for a very potent EPC defense that caused nine Luther North fumbles, six which were recovered by EPC The ‘Catz defense also picked off three Luther North passes which also led to points for EPC.
The second quarter was much the same as EPC again found the enzone with regularity as they scored three more times to make the score 48-0 at the haltime intermission.
A running clock to start the third quarter sped the contest up and Luther North managed to get their only score of the game as running back Feliz Loja scored on a thirty five yard run. The two point conversion was successful.
EPC’s Blake Steen ran the ball in from a yard out in the third quarter to account for the ‘Catz final score of the contest.
The final stats showed just how one sided this game really was. First downs 20 to 9. 386 to 160 total yards. Time of possession 26 min. to 21, and turnovers 12 to 2.
EPC was led in their ground game by Eric Schaney who ran the football thirteen times for one hundred twenty five yards and a pair of scores. Teammate Donny Groezinger ran the football ten times for one hundred six yards and a TD while he hauled in two Devin Heeren TD passes. Heeren was five of five passing for one hundred one yards.
Mike Harrington led the EPC defense with five tackles. Teammates Cody Kluck, Ramsay Truckenmiller, Mike Fahey, Blake Steen and Skylar Fischer each had three tackles.
The 10-0 ‘Catz travel to Sterling to face the 9-1 Serling Newman Comets in the second round of the IHSA Class 2A football playoffs on Saturday, Nov. 9.
