Jay J. Wilkens

Jay J. Wilkens, 87, of Morrison, IL, died Monday, December 10, 2012, at Morrison Community Hospital. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home with Mr. Ken Renkes – Director of Congregational Care of Ebenezer Reformed Church, Morrison officiating. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 13, 2012, at the Ebenezer Reformed Church with interment at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison. Memorials have been established in Jay’s name.

Jay was born August 12, 1925 in Fulton, IL to John C. & Wilhemina “Minnie” (Eissens) Wilkens and was educated at the educated in the Ustick schools in Fulton. On March 19, 1946, he married Virginia A. Decker in Morrison.

He served in the US Army Air Force during WWII and farmed in the Morrison area all of his life. He was a member of the Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, IL, where he served as an elder and deacon. He was also a member of Whiteside County Farm Bureau and Pheasants Forever. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed elk hunting. Jay’s primary interest was spending time with his family; he was proud of every one of them.

Surviving Jay are his wife Virginia, Four Daughters: Sandra Wilkens, Morrison, IL; Deborah (Gary)Juist, Polo, IL; Ellyn Sue (Charles) Osterday, New Paris, IN; Cheryl (Brian) Onken, Morrison, IL. One Son Steven (Lou Ann) Wilkens, Lanark, IL; Fourteen Grandchildren: Sarah (Kristopher) Schmidt, Rachel (Scott) Phillips, Daniel (Jani) Wilkens, Andrew (Raina) Wilkens, Matthew (Britini) Wilkens, Laura (Caleb) Fightmaster, Charles (Kristi) Osterday III, Darrin (Abby) Osterday, Eric (Elizabeth) Osterday, Mitchell Osterday, Adam (Veronica) Miller, Katey Miller, Emily (Cody Hansen) Miller, Sadie Onken; Twenty Great Grandchildren; Two Sisters: Alice Houzenga, Morrison, ILand Eunice Miller, Dixon, IL.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Two Sisters: Inez Valk & Rena Vandereide, and one Brother: Cornelius Wilkens.

Madeline Siciliano, age 89, nee Mostrato, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois died November 30, 2012 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Mt. Carroll. A Memorial visitation will be held Saturday, December 8 2012 in Chicago.

Max W. Carbaugh

Max W. Carbaugh, age 96, of Freeport, Illinois, formerly of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, died Saturday, November 3, 2012, at Manor Court, Freeport, Illinois. Private family services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll, Illinois. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Care of America in Max’s memory.
