Rockford Tea Party Demands Congressional Investigation of “Climate-Gate”
Members of Rockford Tea Party call upon Illinois Congressman Don Manzullo (R-16) to demand congressional hearings concerning the deception practiced by the Global Warming lobby, called “Climate-Gate.” Emails and documents reveal that the temperature records of the last 150 years have been destroyed. These records were the source of alarming forecasts of global warming. The U.K.’s Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia was feeding reports to the United Nations, which now appear unsupported by credible data. Scientists who opposed the premises and conclusions of the “Warmers,” found their research denied for publication in mainstream journals. Some lost university positions or were denied research grants.
While the scientific “fudging” is deplorable, and goes against every sound principle of scientific inquiry, more disastrous is the human cost resulting from efforts to combat non-threatening global temperatures. Skyrocketing grain prices, due to corn’s diversion for fuel, have caused food riots and starvation in countries like Egypt, Cameroon, and Haiti. Lord Monckton, advisor to former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, said on an interview December 9th, on the Dennis Miller Radio Show, that starvation of MILLIONS of people in the third world is the direct fault of the Global Warming mania embraced by western nations.
Humanitarian aid groups have had their budgets decimated by unforeseeable rises in grain prices, due to ethanol production and the spike in oil prices for transportation. An April 2008 article in Britain’s Daily Telegraph cites the amount of corn used for biofuel for a 50 liter gas tank would feed a child for a year. In 2008, 18% of the US corn crop was diverted for biofuel, with a goal of 45% by 2015! Starvation and malnutrition are not the only costs to mankind of the bogus Global Warming mania. The following negatives are associated with ethanol production and use:
• Human exposure to cancers from the toxic byproducts of corn ethanol, more toxic than the byproducts of pure gasoline, was cited in a Stanford University study, partially funded by NASA.
• Cato Institute estimates it takes 7 gallons of oil to produce 8 gallons of ethanol.
• 15% Ethanol in gasoline lowers fuel efficiency by 10%, yet lawmakers are pushing to increase the percent of ethanol in gas to 45% by 2015!
• The ethanol industry has been heavily subsidized by taxpayers, to the tune of $7 billion dollars annually, $1.90 per gallon of ethanol biofuel produced (The Economist, Dec. 6, 2007).
These outcomes could not have found justification, except for the lies of the Global Warming lobby, that said “We’re all gonna die!” unless we do something drastic and quickly. Where have we heard that language before?
The ridiculous Cap & Trade bill is another offshoot of deceptive Global Warming stats. If enacted, Cap & Trade would punish Midwesterners with skyrocketing electric utility costs, and put money in the pockets of Wall Street traders, among them former Vice-President Al Gore. Cap & Trade is mafia tactics applied to a bogus climate condition.
Rockford Tea Party calls on Congressman Manzullo to hold hearings to investigate these and other consequences of the deceptions and counterfeit science of Global Warming Theory, and to consider whether criminal charges should be filed against the perpetrators.
Rockford Tea Party demands the Congress abandon the Cap & Trade bill, and allow private industry to subsidize biofuels. Congress should cease all federal biofuel subsidies.
Rockford Tea Party recognizes that, while high corn prices have been a boon to area farmers, crop management practices imposed by the Cap & Trade bill, including re-forestation of lands currently devoted to food crops, are not in the interests of farmers, consumers, or the world community. Other ways can and should be found to compensate American farmers fairly for their crop production.
Rockford Tea Party is a non-partisan association of like-minded Americans, concerned at the massive growth of government at the expense of American families and American business, which provides the jobs we all need to live. Rockford Tea Party appreciates Congressman’s Manzullo active role, as former Chair of the Small Business Committee, in promoting government policies supportive of small business.
