Chadwick-Milledgeville School Board Briefs

The Regular Meeting of the Chadwick-Milledgeville Community Unit School District #399 Board of Education was held at the Milledgeville School on Monday, March 17, 2008.

- The Board thanked the Volunteer Parents for Progress for their efforts. Recognized were members Nicole Shores, Cathy Downs, Deb Kness, Dawn Waite, and Sue Carter. The Board also recognized the Athletic Boosters and invited them to the April Board Meeting. Karen Wirth was also thanked for her donation to the Milledgeville Library.

- After an amendment, a motion was made to donate $2000 to the Milledgeville Park District toward the construction of a new batting cage. The motion carried unanimously.

- Miller/Buettner was named the district's Health Benefit Consultants.

- The Board heard a briefing from the Superintendent outlining the professional development strategy for next year. The district will concentrate on differentiated instruction and response to intervention.

- The Board heard a report on the district teacher mentorship program that will be expanded. Teachers will be trained and will be state certified in a mentorship program.

- The Board learned that Eastland School District is interested in meeting to discuss the possibility of sharing resources and other cooperatives in the classroom. The Board also read a letter from the Eastland Superintendent Mark Hansen congratulating District #399 on their State Academic Achievement Award.

- The Board was briefed on a meeting with West Carroll and Eastland School Districts on the proposed one cent sales tax. A future meeting will be set in early April.

- The board approved a bid for two, one-year-old buses from Midwest Transit.

- Members of the Board, Administration, Teachers Union, and IASB will meet 19 March to begin the Policy Revision Process. The Board also heard reports on FEMA disaster money, IHSA membership, legislative issues, winter sports receipts, Principal's Report, and Superintendent's Report.

- A motion was made and seconded to create an assistant head football coach position for the 2008-09 football season. This same person would then be the head coach for the 2009-2010 season. The Board also approved membership renewal in the IHSA.

- The employment of Keith Mayne as Chadwick PE / Health Teacher, junior high boys' basketball and junior high track coach for the 2008-09 school year was approved. The Board also voted to approve Matt Woodin (softball), Matt Shank (baseball), and Kate McDaniel (Track) as volunteer coaches for the 2008 season.

- The Board voted to accept the resignation of Barb Peugh as High School Cheerleading Sponsor. Then, Jen Dettman was named as High School Cheerleading Sponsor for the 2008-09 school year.

- It was decided to allow early retirement options for Dave Queckboerner, High School Vocational Teacher and Ag Teacher, and for Randy Bogott, Junior High Science Teacher, both following the 2008-09 school year.

- The Board agreed to accept the retirement option for Alberta Newton, Third Grade Teacher, following the 2008-09 school year.

- The Board voted to approve the closed session minutes from the February Board Meeting; Heard of a meeting on March 4 on the Carroll County Drug Abuse Prevention Coalition; Learned that all ISAT's have been completed at all district schools; Received an update on the upcoming policy review meeting on 19 March.

The next Regular Board Meeting will be April 21, 2008, at Milledgeville High School Library at 7:00 PM.
