Carroll County Sheriff, Jeff Doran reports that the body of Dean Meador has been recovered. Dean Meador was lost
and presumed dead from an ice fishing mishap, which occurred in Brick House Slough, north of Savanna and west of the
former Savanna Army Depot on December 13, 2007.
On Friday, March 21, 2008 at around 0800 The Clinton County Iowa Sheriff's Office was informed of a body in
the Mississippi River near the Beaver Channel Slough.
Union Pacific Railroad bridge operator reported that he had observed what he thought to be a body in the river. A
tugboat
from ARTCO Fleeting Service was able to recover the body after being notified by the bridge operator.
Deputies from the Clinton County Sheriff's Office, Officers from Clinton PD, Clinton Fire Department Personnel and
the Assistant Clinton County Medical Examiner, Dr. Dion, responded to the South 5th Street boat ramp and met the tug boat.
Deputies from the Carroll County Sheriff's Office and the Carroll County Coroner's Office then responded to the
scene and took custody of Mr. Meador's body.
