What if.Farm emergencies are a topic that no one likes to talk about yet it is one we all need to be prepared to deal with. Would you know what
to do if a family member was trapped in a grain bin or was entangled in a piece of equipment? The Carroll County Farm Bureau in conjunction with
Jo-Carroll Energy, Carroll County Health Department, and several local businesses will sponsor a Family Farm Safety/Farm Rescue class on Saturday, June 6,
from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Carroll County Fairgrounds in Milledgeville.
Topics covered in this class will include ATV and lawn mower safety, combine/machinery entanglement, farm chemical exposure, grain bin
entrapment, electrical safety and tractor rollover. This event is for families of all sizes and ages with the basis of the class to teach families first
responder techniques that can be used when faced with a farm-related accident. Stateline Farm Rescue will be the instructors and if all goes well, we will receive
a visit from the OSF Lifeline Helicopter and crew prior to adjourning for the day.
Reservations are needed as lunch will be provided. A donation of $15 per family is requested upon registration. Contact the Carroll County
Farm Bureau at 815-244-3001 or visit our website at www.carrollcfb.org for registration information. The day proves to be one you will not want to miss.
This year marks the 90th Anniversary of the Carroll County Farm Bureau. Throughout the year we will be doing different things to celebrate. One
of the first things we are going to do is host a photo contest. The contest will have four different photo categories. Those categories will be Rural People,
Kids, Countryside, and Animals. Photos must have been taken in 2008 or 2009 and be taken in Carroll County.
The contest is open to all Carroll County Farm Bureau members and their immediate family. A hard copy of the photo in either the form of a 5X7 or
an 8X10 is required. It can be either black and white or color. This is an amateur contest. Contest photos may be submitted anytime between now and
July 15. We will display the photos at our Membership Appreciation Breakfast where we will have our members vote on their favorite photos. One winner
will be deemed in each category and a grand prize winner overall.
A list of the rules are available out on our website at www.carrollcfb.org or can be obtained at our office! Good luck! We look forward to seeing all
of the photos.
