The first Dorothy Footitt Scholarship was for $100,00 awarded in 1969. Since then $141,700 in scholarship funds have been awarded to 280 graduating students from Carroll County high schools. The scholarships honor Dorothy Footitt who was the first home extension advisor in Carroll County and was responsible for the creation of home extension units and many 4-H clubs.
The following is a little background on each of the students.
Emily is the daughter of Drew & Karmin Bush. Emily will be graduating from Milledgeville High School and will be attending Hartland Community College to major in Psychology and play softball.
Jacob is the son of Connan and Tina Dickman and will be graduating from Eastland High School. He plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Plattville and major in music education.
Tayte is the daughter of Richard and Debbi Hunter and will be graduating from West Carroll High School. Tayte will also be attending the University of Wisconsin-Plattville and will major in Computer Science.
Mat is the son of Jon and Lori Keppen and will be graduating from Eastland High School. Matt plans to major in mathematics and statistics at Central College in Pella, Iowa.
Benjamin is the son of Linda Rogers and will be a graduate of West Carroll High School. Ben will major in music and mathematics education at Western Illinois University.
Doug is the son of Jeff and Sue Williams and will be graduating from Milledgeville High School. He will be attending Augustana College to study education and hopes to play football.
