Leland G. Schmaling, age 84 of Mount Carroll, Illinois, died Monday, April 19, 2010, at FHN Hospital, Freeport, Illinois with his daughter by his side. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 22, 2010, at the United Methodist Church, Mount Carroll with Reverend Mark Harkness officiating. Burial will take place in Upper York Cemetery, Argo Fay, Illinois. A visitation will be held from 12:noon –2:00 p.m., Thursday prior to the service at the United Methodist Church, Mt. Carroll. Memorials maybe made to the United Methodist Church, Mount Carroll in Leland’s honor.

Janice Adelle Morfey, age 85, of Savanna, Illinois, died Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at her home in Savanna, Illinois. A funeral service will be held 12: noon. Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Antl Hall, Savanna with Reverend Larry Thomson of the First United Methodist Church, Savanna officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 12:noon. Saturday, April 24, 2010 prior to the service. Memorials may be given in Janice’s memory.

Dorothy Dawe

Dorothy Dawe, age 99 of Elizabeth, Illinois, died Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at the Elizabeth Nursing Home, Elizabeth. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 26, 2010, at the United Methodist Church, Elizabeth. Burial will follow in the Elizabeth Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, April 25, 2010, at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Elizabeth. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Dorothy’s memory.

Charles E. Potter

Charles E. “Chuck” Potter, age 78 of Elizabeth, Illinois died on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at home. A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 25, 2010 at the Elizabeth United Methodist Church with a visitation gathering and luncheon in the church basement immediately following the service, all are invited. Pastor Cheryl Carroll and Pastor Dan Schenck will officiate.

Alice M. Hockman, age 91, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois passed away Thursday, April 22, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Mt. Carroll. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt.Carroll with Reverend Mark Harkness of the Mt. Carroll United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 26 at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Alice’s honor.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mount Carroll. Burial will take place in the Fulton Cemetery, Fulton, Illinois. A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Carroll County Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Bessie’s memory.
