The Broncos scored four second innings runs and that would prove to be enough as Orangeville outlasted the Cougars five to three. Katie Boals picked up the pitching win for Orangeville giving up one run on four hits. Bricelyn Myers took the loss for the Cougars giving up all five runs on nine hits. Ashley Larak went two for three at the plate for Eastland with a double and triple. Carley Rote had a home run for the Broncos.

The Thunder jumped out to a seven to two lead after four innings and had to hold off a comeback attempt by Durand/Pec to pull out the seven to six victory. Morgan Smiley picked up the win on the mound to improve her record to two and seven on the season. Mariah Dach took the loss. The Thunder were aided at the plate by Sophi Morhardt who went three for four with a triple and teammate Kaiti Mathey added a triple. Milledgeville/Polo got a no hit effort from standout pitcher Keali Engelkens crushing Dirand/Pec eighteen to nothing. Keali went the distance striking out nine and walking none. The Missiles pounded out fifteen hits off Durand/Pec pitcher Kori O’Brien with Engelkens collecting three single and two RBI’s. Teammates Taylor Kent and Brianna Herin added three RBI’s each. Milledgeville/Polo improved their overall record to twelve and two with the victory.

After playing to a one one tie after three innings, the Thunder erupted for four fourth innings runs and held on for the five to two win. West Carroll pitcher Kim Durward improved her record to eight and five going the distance, walking two and striking out eleven Pearl City hitters. Katy Cook had a double and Chelsey Sipe a triple for West Carroll. Coach Mathey commented, “Kim Durward pitched a great game. We had one big inning where we scored four runs. We left too many runners on abse again tonight, lacking that one big hit to break the game open. Pearl City did make quite a few nice plays against us.”

Eastland Sweeps Le-Win In Doubleheader

The Cougars pounded out twenty four hits and scored eighteen runs taking both ends of a double header with Le-Win. They took the first game twelve to three behind the pitching of Marissa Harris and the hitting of Megan Bunyer, Taylor Ruter, Bricelym Myers, Karissa Pierce and Katelyn Dickman. Game two was all Marissa Harris as she pitched aa one hitter walking none and fanning eleven Le-Win hitters. She was aided at the plate by teammates Katelyn Dickman, Taylor Ruter and Karissa Pierce.

Eastland Shuts Out Stockton

The Cougars put two runs on the scoreboard in the third and another in the top of the seventh to take the three to nothing victory over the Blackhawks. Eastland was lead by the pitching of Bricelyn Myers who went the distance giving up five hits and walking one while fanning six Stockton hitters. Morgan Werkheiser took the loss for Stockton. Eastland’s Ashley Larak went two for three at the playe while teammate Megan Bunyer blasted a home run.

West Carroll Splits A Pair With East Dubuque

The Thunder split a double header with the Warriors, winning game one ten to nothing while dropping game two seven to five. West Carroll’s Kin Durward improved her record to nine and five winning the first game with a one hit performance. Kim walked three and struck out three. She helped her own cause at the plate going two for two with teammates Rachel Allen and Chelsey Sipe going two for three and Sophi Morhardt going two for four. Rachel Allen had a double, Sophi Morhardt a pair of triples and Kaiti Mathey a hom e run. Kristen Rice added a triple for the Thunder. Coach Mathey said of game one, “We hit the ball extremely well this game as we were very patient and waited for our pitches then really hit them hard. Many players contributed to the git parade as the stats showed. It was probably our best overall game of the year to date.” Game two saw West Carroll jump out to an early three to nothing lead. East Dubuque then scored seven runs in the next two innings to take control. The Thunder managed to put up singles runs in the fifth and seventh but couldn’t come back all the way. Coach Mathey said of game two, “East Dubuque had four of their six hits in the bottom of the fifth and we had two errors to help them along. We also lost a little focus in that inning. That is really the only bad inning we had all night but it cost us the game.”

The Missiles hammered out the ten to one victory behind the three hit pitching of Keali Engelkens and a balanced hitting attack that produced eleven Missile hits. Keali walked two bronco hitters and struck out five in picking up the victory. Brianna Herin had two hit and two runs batted in with teammates Taylor Kent adding a home run and a pair of RBI’s, Andrea Herin a single, double and triple and Emily Bush and Ashley White a double each. O’ville’s Katir Boals had a triple in a losing effort.

In a back and forth game East Dubuque was able to get just enough offense and pitching to take the five to four victory. Both teams managed eight hits in the contest and Pearl City had the potential tying run on second base in the seventh inning but couldn’t manage to get it pushed across home plate. Gwen Scott took the pitching loss for Pearl Vity walking one while striking out three.

The Wolves scored in all but three innings to come away with the eight to one victory. West Carroll managed only three hits in the contest as pitcher Tyler Brashaw suffered the loss. Pearl City’s Alex Maurer led the Wolves going three for four at the plate with a pair of home runs and six runs batted in. Teammate Coltan Bastian was three for five and Adam Block went two for three. MJ Mulanix picked up the pitching win for the Wolves.

The Warriors put nine runs on the score board in the first four innings and cruised to the easy fourteen to five win. Despite pounding out nine hits of their own, West Carroll was topped by East Dubuque’s fourteen hits. The Thunder’s Adam Ferguson took the pitching loss going four innings and giving up nine runs on seven hits. Joey Sullivan had a monster game at the plate for West Carroll, going three for four with three home runs and four runs batted in. Teammate Matt LaShelle went two for four with a single and double. Thunder head coach Kamper said, “East Dubuque hit the ball well and they were about the best team we have seen this year on the base paths.”

Pearl City came back with five of their own in the bottom of the third but that was all the offense they could must. Gabe Schrader picked up the win for Eastland with Pearl City’s Collin Talbert taking the loss. The defeat dropped the Wolves record to six and five overall and two and four in conference.

West Carroll Outlasts Pirates

Despite going down to Galena eight to two after four innings, the Thunder came roaring back to put eight on the board in the sixth and seventh and send this one to extra frames. West Carroll put up a deuce in the top of the tenth and shut down Galena in the bottom of the inning to take the twelve to ten win. Adam Ferguson pitched the final three and a third to notch the victory. At the plate, Austin Weller went three for four with a home run and four runs batted in while teammate Trey Enloe went three for six with three runs batted in. Head coach Kamper said, “We got down early in the game. We didn’t quit. We came back and forced extra innings. We took advantage of mistakes they made and we got hits from Austin and Trey when we needed them”
