Evelyn F. Robert, 96, of Lanark, passed away Friday, April 1, 2011 at Provena-St. Joseph’s in Freeport, IL.

She was born March 12, 1915 in Shannon to Porter and Clara (Woessner) Bicksler.

She was a 1933 Shannon High School graduate and attended Brown’s Business College in Freeport.

On February 5, 1942, Evelyn married Ralph Robert in Ottawa IL. Evelyn and Robert farmed all their lives near Lanark.

Evelyn was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Shannon as well as Rock Creek Grange.

Surviving are one nephew; Lowell (Rose) Terhark of Lena; two great-nephews; Steve (Laurie) Terhark of Lake Geneva, WI, Dan Terhark (Gabriella and daughter Valerie), of Polo; and one great-niece; Heidi (Cody) Calzavara, of Shannon; James (Hazel) Harden of RI, Shirley (William) Ryan of Sterling, and Allen (Nancy) Harden of Rock Falls.

She was preceded in death by her husband, September 23, 1997, her parents, one sister, Grace Terhark, and one brother-in-law, Lester Robert, of Lanark.

Services will be on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 2:00pm, at Russell-Frank Funeral Home in Lanark. Friends may call from 12noon until the time of service. Burial will be next to her husband at Lanark Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in her memory for Bethel United Methodist Church.

John W. Snodgrass

John W. “Butch” Snodgrass, 65, of Clinton, died Monday, March 28, 2011 at his home in Clinton.

Memorial Services and a lunch gathering will be 2-5 pm, Saturday, April 9, 2011 at the Eagles Club, 222 ½ 2nd Street, Clinton, Iowa 52732. Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory is assisting the family with the arrangements.

John W. Snodgrass was born December 4, 1945 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Donald and Lucille (Hintz) Snodgrass. He married Colleen Bormann on June 5, 1989 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

He was an avid pool player and loved fishing, camping, and playing Cribbage.

Butch is survived by his loving wife Colleen; two children: Tina (Eric) Swanson of Sterling, Illinois and Tommy Snodgrass of Cape Coral, Florida; 3 grandsons; 3 brothers: Robert Snodgrass of Fair Haven, Illinois, Chris Snodgrass of Fair Haven, Illinois, and Mike Snodgrass of Clinton; 2 sisters: Donna (Chester) Snow of Fenton, Illinois and Cindy (Billy) Sims of Clinton; a special niece Julie (Terry) Weltzin of Clinton; brother-in-law Eric (Tracy) Bormann of Morrison, Illinois; sister-in-law: Kathy (John) Larson of Clinton; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; a grandson; and a nephew.

Marjorie M. Ruch

Marjorie M. Ruch, 90 yrs old, of Lanark passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport, Il.

She was born April 7, 1920 in Chicago, the daughter of William E. and Alice (Upton) Scanlan.

On Oct. 7, 1939 she married George L. Ruch in Chicago. He preceded her in death in 1986. She married Paul Fowler who also preceded her in death.

Surviving are two daughters, Marjorie (Dr. Stephen) Dodge of New Smyrna Beach, FL., Pamela (James) Helgerson of Berwyn, Il. , one son Robert (Amy) Ruch of Lanark, Il. , one daughter-in-law, Sharon Ruch of Laport, CO., her grandchildren, Rebecca Gallie, Shannon Czyzewski, Erin Czyzewski, Jon Dodge, Jeff Dodge, Adam Ruch, Louisa Ruch, and Anna Ruch, three great grandchildren, Katie, Bethany, and Noa.

Preceding her in death were her parents, one son, George T. Ruch, one brother and three sisters.

A Memorial Gathering to celebrate her life will be held on Sat. Apr. 2, 2011 from one to four p.m. at her granddaughter Louisa Mahoney’s home at 233 S. Ridgeland in Oak Park, Il. A Memorial has been established in her memory for the Carroll Country Pitter Patter Pantry

James E. Heffelfinger

James E. Heffelfinger, 60, of Polo, IL, died Sunday, March 27th at the Coventry Living Center in Sterling. James was born on February 20, 1951 in Freeport, the son of Charles L. and Mildred A. (Queckboerner) Heffelfinger. He married Sandi Huizenga on August 7, 1971 in Fulton. He received a Bachelors Degree from Western Illinois University in 1973. He was employed by Universal Chemical of Elgin, IL as a plant manager for a number of years. James was a member of the Faith Community Church in Huntley, IL. He served on the McHenry School Board #156 for 12 years and as President for 8 years. He was also the sound engineer for Isaiah 53, a contemporary Christian music group.

Survivors include his daughter, Kristen (David) Finch of McHenry, IL; his mother, Mildred Heffelfinger-Kaul of Sterling; Sandi Heffelfinger of McHenry, IL; 2 grandchildren, Emily and Parker Finch; a sister, Nancy (Richard) Janssen of Milledgeville, IL; and 2 brothers, Ronald (Lori) Heffelfinger of Winnebago, IL and Kenneth Heffelfinger of Sterling, IL. He was preceded in death by his father. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 9th, in the Faith Community Church, Huntley, IL. A gathering of friends and family will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., April 9th at the curch with Pastor Bruce Cole officiating. At James request, he has donated his remains to medical science. In lieu of flowers, a memorial in his name has been established.

Richard Bernard McIntyre, age 69, of Elizabeth, passed away at home Thursday, March 31, 2011. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Elizabeth, Illinois.

Eillene R. Crichton

Eillene R. (Wenger) Crichton of Elgin, 83, formerly of Milledgeville, died March 27th at her home. Services were held last weekend. Eillene was the daughter of Bruce & Ida Wenger and is survived by one brother, Harry.

Eugene E. Bull

Eugene “Gene” E. Bull, age 86, of Savanna, Illinois passed away Friday, April 1, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center, Clinton, Iowa. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church, Savanna. Visitation will be held 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 4, 2011 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna and also one hour prior to the service at the Church on Tuesday. A memorial fund has been established in Gene’s honor for the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.

Shirley M. Eisfeller

Shirley M. Eisfeller, age 78, of Rockton, Illinois, previously of Chadwick went to her eternal home on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Highview in the Woodlands, Rockton. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2011 at the United Church of Byron, Byron, Illinois. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the Church. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be sent to the United Church of Byron or the Byron Civic Theatre.

Beverly J. Akker

Beverly J. (Carley) Akker, 83, originally of Chadwick, IL died Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Four Seasons Living Center in Morrison, IL. Cremation Rites have been accorded. Graveside services at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, officiated by Rev. Brian Akker will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2011. Memorials may be sent to the Morrison Food Pantry. The Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Dolores E. Noe

Dolores “Dee” E. Noe, age 76, of Savanna, Illinois, died Sunday, April 3, 2011, at the Eagle Point Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clinton, Iowa. According to her wishes, Dee will be cremated and a service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society in Dee’s name.

Richard B. McIntyre, age 69, of Elizabeth, Illinois, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2011, at home. According to his wishes, Richard will be cremated and no services will be held at this time.

Ervin W. Lieb, age 93, of Elizabeth, Illinois, died on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at the Elizabeth Nursing Home, Elizabeth. A Funeral Service will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 8, 2011 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elizabeth, with Reverend Harvey Nicholson officiating. Burial will be in the Elizabeth Cemetery, Elizabeth. A visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church. A memorial fund has been established in Ervin’s memory.

Kathryn C. Johnson

Kathryn C. Johnson, age 81, of Savanna, Illinois, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon, Sunday, April 10, 2011 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Cremation rites will be accorded following the funeral service. Burial of her cremated remains will be held at a later date in the Savanna Township Cemetery, Savanna. A visitation will be held from 10:00-12:00 Noon, prior to the service at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Kathryn’s memory.

Debra S. Kradle, age 53, of Savanna, Illinois, died Friday, April 8, 2011, at her home in Savanna. Cremation Rites have been accorded. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Burial of her cremated remains will be held in the Savanna Township Cemetery, Savanna. A gathering will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Debra’s memory.

Darlene D. Ready, age 71, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois passed away Sunday, April 10, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Mt. Carroll. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 15, 2011 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mount Carroll. Burial will take place in Oakhill Cemetery, Mount Carroll. A visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 14, 2011 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mount Carroll. Memorials may be given to the Point Rock Park Beautification Fund in Darlene’s memory.
