Laverne Shipman

Laverne Shipman, age 90, of Milledgeville, died Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Morrison.

Laverne was born August 10, 1919 in Brookville the son of Harry William Scott and Lelah Pearl (Ford) Shipman. He graduated from Milledgeville High School and later married Lulu Mae Bushman on September 27, 1940 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She died July 22, 1990. He was employed by Kraft as a milk hauler, was self employed carpenter, and most recently was a custodian at Milledgeville High School. He retired in 1984. He was a lifelong member of the Milledgeville Brethren Church. Laverne’s passions were his family and boating on the Rock River.

Survivors include one daughter, Nancy (Merle) Nice of Sterling; one sister, Merna Edwards of Lanark; five grandchildren, Rick (Tina) Eastabrooks, Kim Eastabrooks, Mark (Jodi) Eastabrooks, Marci (Howard) Horton, and Aaron “AJ” Simpson; son-in-law, Gary Simpson; sister-in-law, Betty Shipman; several nieces and nephews; 17 great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; one daughter, Mary Lou; two sons in infancy; his twin brother, Don; and one son-in-law, Jay Eastabrooks.

Graveside services will be Monday, April 5, 2010 at 1:15 PM at Bethel Cemetery in Milledgeville with Reverend Russell Gordon of the Milledgeville Brethren Church officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM at the McDonald-Allen-Grennan Funeral Home in Milledgeville.

Memorials have been established to the Milledgeville Brethren Church and Unity Hospice.

Marilyn K. Baldridge, 63, of Clinton, formerly of Thomson, died March 30, 2010. Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Snell-Zornig Funeral Home in Clinton.

Dorothy Mae Green

Dorothy Mae Green, age 88, of Thomson, Illinois, died Monday, March 29, 2010, at Mercy Living Center South, Clinton, Iowa. Private burial of cremated remains will be in the Lower York Cemetery, Thomson. Memorials may be given to Augustus in Dorothy’s memory.

Opal Mary Miller

Opal Mary Miller, age 93, of Kissimmee Florida, previously of Savanna, Illinois died Monday, March 29, 2010 at the Osceola Health Care Center, St. Cloud, Florida. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 5, 2010 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna, with Reverend Michael Wey of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Savanna Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Evelyn DeLeiah Schaut

Evelyn DeLeiah (Grimm) Schaut, formerly of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, left this life on April 3, 2010 with her family by her side in Powell, Ohio. A Graveside Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 9, 2010 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt.Carroll with Reverend Mark Harkness officiating.

Mary Pearl Cadd

Mary Pearl Cadd, age 89 of Savanna, Illinois, was called home to be with God and her many loved ones on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at the Carroll County Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Mount Carroll, Illinois. Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
