'Mayfest' Features 5K Walk/Run, 3-on-3 BasketballMOUNT CARROLL – A 5K Walk/Run benefit for the Carroll County Relay for Life will be held as part of this year's 28th annual Mayfest celebration in Mount Carroll. It is scheduled for 8 a.m. Saturday, May 23, starting at the front gate entrance to Campbell Center, where Mayfest is held. Race-day registration is from 7 to 7:45 a.m. at the Campbell Center entrance. CenturyTel is the sponsor of the 2009 Mayfest Walk-Run event. Proceeds from the walk-run will be used to benefit the Carroll County Relay for Life. The registration fee is $15 before May 14 and includes a T-shirt and eligibility for door prizes. The fee after May 14 remains $15, and includes a T-shirt while supplies last. Prizes will be awarded to the first male and female finishers along with the first Mount Carroll finisher. For more information or entry forms, call Laura Smith at 815-244-5374. 3-on-3 BB TournamentA 3-on-3 basketball tournament for boys and girls will once again be a part of Mount Carroll's 28th annual Mayfest celebration. It will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 23, on the parking lot next to the food tent on the Mayfest grounds at Campbell Center. FHN is the tournament sponsor. The tournament is open to anyone age 8 and over. The entry form and $70 entry fee for each four-person team must be received by Friday, May 15. A $20 late fee will be enforced. There will be T-shirts for every player registered on the entry forms. Trophies also will be presented. Entry forms and more information are available by calling Scott Gallentine at 815-244-1112.
