Sandra L. ReinsSandra Lee Reins, 68, died Monday May 5, 2008 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling. Sandra was born on June 11, 1939 in Dennison, Iowa the daughter of Neil and Evelyn (Day) Gary. She married Kermit R. Reins on August 4, 1957 in Sterling. Sandra retired in 2006 as a Medical Records Clerk at the Sterling - Rock Falls Clinic. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Jordan rural Sterling. Survivors include her husband, Kermit of Sterling; three sons, Kermit (Lori) Reins, Kenneth (Nancy) Reins both of Sterling and Kurt Reins of Milledgeville; one sister, Connie Johnson of Denver, Colo.,one half-sister, Rose (Don) Norell of South Beloit, Ill one step-sister, Linda Stefanich of Sterling; one step-brother Merle (Dee) VanDusen of Las Vegas, Nev.; four grandchildren, Rebecca (Mike) Staats, Robert Reins, Kendra Reins and Kinzie Reins all of Sterling; one great grandchild, Gavin Michael Staats of Sterling; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial services will be 10:00 AM Thursday May 8, 2008 at the First Lutheran Church of Jordan, rural Sterling with Reverend Roger Asplund officiating. Burial will follow at the Peugh Cemetery rural Coleta. Visitation is Wednesday from 4-8:00 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Emma was born on March 30, 1913, in Rice Twp., in Jo Daviess County, the daughter of Albert F. and Mae J. (Petitgout) Schoenfeld. She married Edward J. Engel February 8, 1939, at St. Michaels Church in Galena, Illinois. The couple lived their entire lives in the Hanover and Galena area. Edward preceded her in death on December 4, 1990. Emma worked for the Eaton Corporation in Hanover for eleven years. She was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hanover. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 5300 in Hanover. Emma is survived by her sons, Ellis (Gloria) Engel of Rock Falls, Illinois, Emmett Engel of Hanover, and Eugene (Marilyn) Engel of Lena, Illinois; three grandchildren, Ryan, Eric, and Erin Engel; three great grandchildren, Henry, Emma, and Kori Engel; two brothers, Francis (Helen) Schoenfeld of Galena, Louis "Shorty" (Mae) Schoenfeld of Galena; three sisters in law, Sister Mary Luke Engel of Indiana, Velda Schoenfeld of Galena, and Rosemary (Elwyn) Meyer of Galena. Eslinger, 88, of Rockford, died Thursday, May 08, 2008 at P.A. Peterson. Born December 4, 1919 near Thomson, IL to Justice and Anna (Hawk) Prins. Married the late Forrest J. Eslinger in Thomson on Oct. 2, 1939. They farmed near Lanark until 1967 and moved to Clinton, Iowa to retire. Forrest died on July 2, 2000. Mary enjoyed being a home maker, flower gardening and vegetable gardening. She centered her life around her family, especially her husband, children and grandchildren. Survivors include children, Jaclyn (Dale) Tischhauser of Atlanta, TX, Connie (Craig) Entwistle of Lake in the Hills and Larry (Judy) Eslinger of Tucson, AZ; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and sisters, Dora Isabelle Graham and JoAnn (Ralph) Buelow. He was born March 12, 1951 to Glenn and Jean Bonjour; graduating Savanna High School, class of 1969. Gary married Patricia Vesely on December 6, 1980. He worked for Lutheran Social Services as a youth and family counselor in Carroll County schools for 25 years. He was well known for his tireless service to the community. Savanna Bible Church will miss a faithful member and diligent elder. Gary fished seriously, hunted successfully, and gardened prolifically. He enjoyed playing various instruments, camping at Willow, telling people about Jesus, and holding his family close. Gary is survived by his wife Patty, his children Alicia (Tony) Streeter of Iowa City, Iowa, Sarah (Randy) DeMeyer of Thomson, Zachary (Krystal) Bonjour of Morrison, and Raymond Bonjour; his parents, Glenn and Jean Bonjour of Savanna; his brother Randy (Susan) Bonjour of Oxford, Iowa; a grandbaby arriving in August and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Special thanks are due to the incredible physicians and medical staff at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Genesis West Medical Center and the entire community of friends, family and strangers who provided support in so many ways during Gary's battle with cancer. Charles B. StallingsCharles B. Stallings, age 63, of Savanna, Illinois, died Sunday, May 11, 2008, surrounded by his loving family. Charles was born on November 30, 1944, in Enterprise, Oregon, the son of Cecil and Wilma (Turner) Stallings. He attended high school in Portland, Oregon and graduated with the Class of 1962. Charles served his country in the United States Army from 1962-1965, and again from 1968-1975. He married Mary Alice Castro on June 26, 1972 in Savanna. Charles worked for the United States Government as a Security Specialist for twenty-five years, retiring in 1996. Charles enjoyed fishing, going to gambling boats, and playing cards, especially Poker. Most of all, Charles loved spending time with his family and friends. Charles will be dearly missed by his wife, Mary Alice of Savanna; three sons, Chris (Linda) Stallings of Savanna, Tom (Kathy) Hathaway of Rockford, Illinois, and Todd Hathaway of Savanna; two daughters, Tracey Hathaway of Mount Carroll, Illinois and Torri Hathaway of Switzerland; eight grandchildren; and two sisters, Darcy (Brian) Snodgrass of Newberg, Oregon and Frances (Terry) Miles of Canby, Oregon.
