Gunnel Maria Lundquist, age 96, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois died Thursday, May 23, 2013 at the Carroll County Good Samaritan Center, Mt. Carroll. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013 at the Mt. Carroll United Methodist Church with Reverend Teri Lafferty officiating. A visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. Gunnel was born October 27, 1916, the daughter of Vidar and Frida (Eriksson) Grinndal in Winnipeg, Canada. She attended Vanderpool School in Chicago. Gunnel married Derwood Lundquist on August 7, 1943 in Chicago. They celebrated 64 years of marriage. Derwood died February 9, 2008.
Gunnel was a homemaker, dressmaker and interior designer. She was known for her creativity. With her husband, Derwood she owned and operated an interior design business known as the Carroll House in Mt. Carroll. She was a member of the Mt. Carroll United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the Good Samaritan Auxiliary. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, games, flower gardening and sewing.
Gunnel will be dearly missed by her four sons, Paul Lundquist (Dotty Morgan) of Burnsville, North Carolina, Thomas (LeeAnne) Lundquist of Onalaska, Texas, John (Beverly) Lundquist of Mt. Carroll, and Matthew (Jane) Lundquist of Mt. Carroll; four grandchildren, Christopher, Malissa, James, and Elissa; and a great grandson, Gabriel. Gunnel was preceded in death by her husband, Derwood, and two brothers, Volke and Richard.
Jackie S. Gosney
Jackie S. Gosney passed away on May 21, 2013, in her home, in Peoria AZ, with her son and daughter by her side.
Jackie was born in West Plains, Missouri, on October 30, 1941, to Cleo and Geraldine Bennett. She married William "Pete" Gosney on April 20, 1957.
Jackie is survived by her daughter, Kimberly (Craig) Gebhardt of Milledgeville, IL, son, Douglas (Christine LeBlanc) Gosney of Peoria, AZ, two grandchildren, Troy (Diana) Boutin, currently serving in the U.S. Army in Afghanistan and Trent (Katelyn Wiersema) Gebhardt of Milledgeville, IL, one sister, Debra Brown, and four brothers, Larry (Ruth) Bennett, Gary (Mary) Bennett, Randy (Sue) Bennett and Samuel (Peggy) Bennett. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, William V. Gosney III and her husband, William V. Gosney Jr. and her parents.
She will be laid to rest next to her husband and son. Ralph Richard Moshure
Ralph Richard Moshure passed away in Freeport on Friday May 17, 2013. Ralph was born on March 13th 1929 in Chicago, IL to Richard and Ella (Hovorka) Moshure. He spent his formative years in Chicago and the family moved to Mt. Carroll, IL, in1946.
Ralph graduated from Mt. Carroll High School in 1947 and went into business with his father and brother, Rayfield, in establishing Moshure’s Auto Rebuilding, an enterprise he was involved with for over 50 years. About the same time Ralph met the love of his life, Florence Kruse, on a blind date. Between waiting for Florence to grow up and duty in the Korean War with the United States Army, they were not married until Nov. 15, 1952, in Mount Carroll. The ensuring years saw the birth of 4 children, the expansion of the family business, and Ralph’s involvement in various activities such as American Legion Post 67, where he was a member for over 55 years and a past commander. He was also a volunteer fireman with the Mt. Carroll Fire Department for 38 years and a past city alderman. Ralph was a master craftsman in working with all types of materials and created imaginative playthings for his children and grandchildren and unique items in support of various local organizations. He was a fan of all sports, played baseball with the Mount Carroll Merchants for many years, and avidly supported local youth sports. Ralph loved gardening, hunting, and fishing, and enjoying nature on his farms in Mt. Carroll and Friendship, WI. He loved to cook and was known for creating concoctions with whatever he might find, with a special fondness for Chinese food. Above all, Ralph enjoyed a good joke and spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 60 years, Florence.
Surviving are his children, Larry (Karen), Deb (Brian) Bolen, David, and Jane (Mark) Shaw, his Grandchildren, Melissa, Sara, Kathy, Rick, Andrew, Nathanial, Natalie, Matthew, and Anthony. Eight great-grandchildren, a sister Vivian Rycus, and a brother Gene. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Rayfield.
Visitation will be held at the Mt. Carroll United Methodist Church on Tues. May 21, 2013 from 5 to 8 pm. A funeral will be conducted at the same location by Rev. Teri Lafferty on Wed. May 22, 2013 at 11 am. Military honors will be presented by American Legion Post 67. Inurnment will be at a later date. A memorial fund has been established in support of local youth sports.

Mildred Tripp, age 81, of Sterling, Illinois, formerly of Chadwick, Illinois died Thursday, May 16, 2013 at CGH Hospital, Sterling. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2013 at Hope United Methodist Church, Chadwick. Burial will be in the Chadwick Cemetery. JoAnn Lichamer, age 78 of Lanark, Illinois, died peacefully Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at home. A memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home in Mt. Carroll, Illinois. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be given to the FHN Hospice of the FHN Cancer Center in JoAnn’s memory.
