Donald W. Bauer

Donald W. Bauer, 86, of Sebring, FL, formerly of Lanark, IL died on Friday, May 21, 2010 at his home in Sebring, FL. He was born on April 17, 1924 in Sterling to Louis and Elizabeth (Frank) Bauer. On Sept. 9, 1989, Donald Married Marilyn Christensen in Lanark.

Donald was a retired Dairy Farmer, and was a member of the Sebring Church of the Brethren.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn, step daughter; Connie Heidenreich of Rowlett, TX, step son; Bruce (Carolina) Christensen of Crown Point, IN, ten step grandchildren and twenty nine step great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at the Lanark Church of the Brethren with Pastor John Sgro officiating. Interment will be in the Lanark Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday at the Russell-Frank Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Lanark Church of the Brethren.

Marie Johnson Schoonhoven, 91, of Lanark died on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at the Stephenson Nursing Center in Freeport.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at the Lanark United Methodist Church with Rev. Kathryn Ling officiating. Burial will take place in the Brethren Cemetery in Shannon. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Fireside Room at the Lanark United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made in Marie’s honor to the Lanark United Methodist Church.

Marie was born on March 11, 1919 in Shannon, IL, the daughter of Albert and Grace (Fransen) Johnson. She was married to Edgar “Pete” Schoonhoven on January 22, 1942.

Marie was very active during her lifetime, and was involved in her family activities and her church. She was a 4-H leader in the Shannon area, and an avid golfer at Lake Carroll, and she loved to bowl.

Marie is survived by her daughters, Valeria (Merle) Clawson of Springtown, TX, Nancy Goodman of Shannon, IL, Larelle Risley of Ozark, MO, and Carmen (John) Myers of German Valley, IL, one brother Heine Johnson of Fond Du Lac, WI, 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a son Wayne “Butch”. Arrangements are being handled by the Russell-Frank Funeral Home in Lanark.

Patricia M. “Pat” Franey

Patricia M. “Pat” Franey, age 72, of Lanark, Illinois died Thursday, May 20, 2010 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport, Illinois. A funeral service will held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 24, 2010 at the Lanark Church of the Brethren with Reverend John Sgro officiating. Burial will be in Lanark Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday, May 23, 2010 at Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll, Illinois. A memorial fund has been established in Pat’s memory. Pat was born on July 8, 1937, the daughter of Wales A. and Ruth (Waterbury) Geary in Freeport. She attended Lanark High School where she earned a First in State for singing and later graduated with the Class of 1955. Pat married James V. Franey on November 10, 1979 in Chadwick, Illinois.

Pat worked as a Ward Clerk in the FHN Memorial Hospital and also worked at the Chadwick Drivers License Facility. She enjoyed working as a cashier for the Lanark Pharmacy and also previously worked as an Insurance Agent in Freeport. Pat was a long time member of the Lanark Church of the Brethren where she was member of the Praise and Worship Team. She was also a member of several Sweet Adelines choruses. She enjoyed reading, music, creating crafts and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. Pat also loved horses and used to train them in her younger years. Pat also enjoyed writing and has completed children’s books and written several magazine articles. Most of all, Pat loved spending time with her family and friends.

Pat will be dearly missed by her husband, Jim of Lanark; four children, Kimberly M. (Eric) Smith of Lanark, Kristy L. (Jim) Pierce of Lanark, Robert (Justina) Shipley of Mackinaw, Illinois and Sarah (Randy) Witt of Cedarville, Illinois; two step children, Rodney (Laura) Franey of Stanley, Kansas and Jodi Mallette of Lees Summit, Missouri; twenty-two grandchildren, Joshua (Sarah) Riley, Ethan and Rachel Riley, Alex and Caroline Smith, Kelsey and Karissa Pierce, Summer, Spencer and Paige Shipley, C.J. and Colman Case, Samuel Vickrey, Zachary Randecker, Cason Witt, Jacob, Ryan and Jennifer Franey and Ronald, Abby, Morgan and Emily Mallette; two sisters, Lorene Roberts of Lanark and Jan Geary of Freeport, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; and a special Chihuahua, Gypsy.

Pat is preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Diane Pauley.

Stuart “Red” Hergert

Stuart “Red” Hergert, age 82, of Savanna, Illinois, died Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Nadene G. McIntyre

Nadene G. McIntyre, age 93 of Hanover, Illinois, died on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at the Elizabeth Nursing Home, Elizabeth. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 22, 2010 at the Hanover United Methodist Church with Reverend Bill Blomberg officiating. Burial will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover. A visitation will be held from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 22, 2010 prior to the service at the church. A memorial fund has been established in Nadene’s memory.

Carmella Stolarski

Carmella (Costello) Stolarski, age 67, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, previously of Chicago, died Friday, May 21, 2010 peaacefully at home. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 27, 2010 at SS. John & Catherine Catholic Church, Mt. Carroll with Father Dennis Atto as Celebrant. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll. Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at SS John & Catherine Catholic Church, Mt. Carroll. Memorials may be given in Carm’s honor for Make-A-Wish Foundation.
