Gunnel Maria Lundquist, age 96, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois died Thursday, May 23, 2013 at the Carroll County Good Samaritan Center, Mt. Carroll. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013 at the Mt. Carroll United Methodist Church with Reverend Teri Lafferty officiating. A visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. Gunnel was born October 27, 1916, the daughter of Vidar and Frida (Eriksson) Grinndal in Winnipeg, Canada. She attended Vanderpool School in Chicago. Gunnel married Derwood Lundquist on August 7, 1943 in Chicago. They celebrated 64 years of marriage. Derwood died February 9, 2008.
Gunnel was a homemaker, dressmaker and interior designer. She was known for her creativity. With her husband, Derwood she owned and operated an interior design business known as the Carroll House in Mt. Carroll. She was a member of the Mt. Carroll United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the Good Samaritan Auxiliary. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, games, flower gardening and sewing.
Gunnel will be dearly missed by her four sons, Paul Lundquist (Dotty Morgan) of Burnsville, North Carolina, Thomas (LeeAnne) Lundquist of Onalaska, Texas, John (Beverly) Lundquist of Mt. Carroll, and Matthew (Jane) Lundquist of Mt. Carroll; four grandchildren, Christopher, Malissa, James, and Elissa; and a great grandson, Gabriel. Gunnel was preceded in death by her husband, Derwood, and two brothers, Volke and Richard.
Jackie S. Gosney
Jackie S. Gosney passed away on May 21, 2013, in her home, in Peoria AZ, with her son and daughter by her side.
Jackie was born in West Plains, Missouri, on October 30, 1941, to Cleo and Geraldine Bennett. She married William “Pete” Gosney on April 20, 1957.
Jackie is survived by her daughter, Kimberly (Craig) Gebhardt of Milledgeville, IL, son, Douglas (Christine LeBlanc) Gosney of Peoria, AZ, two grandchildren, Troy (Diana) Boutin, currently serving in the U.S. Army in Afghanistan and Trent (Katelyn Wiersema) Gebhardt of Milledgeville, IL, one sister, Debra Brown, and four brothers, Larry (Ruth) Bennett, Gary (Mary) Bennett, Randy (Sue) Bennett and Samuel (Peggy) Bennett. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, William V. Gosney III and her husband, William V. Gosney Jr. and her parents.
She will be laid to rest next to her husband and son. David Lee Bushman
David Lee Bushman, age 79, of Coleta, passed into his eternal life with Jesus on May 25, 2013. He had a 50 year career with American Breeders Service as a Genetic Technician and he also enjoyed farming. He especially liked his Oliver and White Tractors.
David was born May 12, 1934 in Milledgeville to D. Harry and Esther (Hartman) Bushman. He married his high school sweetheart, Nona, on October 5, 1952, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
David graduated from Milledgeville High School and spent his entire life in the Milledgeville and Coleta area.
David accepted the Lord as his Savior and was baptized at the age of 12. He served in various capacities in the Milledgeville Brethren Church and later at the Sterling First Church of the Nazarene.
David was very interested in the improvement and future of dairy and beef cattle. His Limousin calves often topped the market. He enjoyed watching college basketball and football and the NFL, especially the Big Ten, Chicago Bears and also watching Fox News.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years; children, Vicki (Alan) Deets of Chadwick; Vali (Keith) Miatke of Neillsville, Wis., Mike (Karen) Bushman of Lanark, Tom (Shannon) Bushman of Groveland; nine grandchildren, Angela Miatke, Aaron (Brenda) Miatke, Jason (Mandi) Deets, Ryan (Sara) Deets, Ben (Melissa) Bushman, Joey Bushman, Blake (fiancé Jenny Geisler) Bushman, Chase (fiancé Nicki Johnson) Bushman and Jourdan (Kyle) Arvin; eight great grandchildren, Oliver, Esther, Colette and Jonmarc Miatke, Megan and Lucy Deets, Dawson Deets and Cadence Bushman; two sisters, Marilyn (John) Parks and Sally (Karrol) Phillips both of Milledgeville; and many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
David requested that there be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation rites have been accorded. “Memories will remain in the sacred places of the heart.”
Arrangements were completed by the McDonald Funeral Home of Milledgeville. Burial will be at a later time in Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling. Memorials have been established to the Sterling First Church of the Nazarene, the Milledgeville Brethren Church and Hospice of the Rock River Valley.
Stan “Coach” McCrudden, age 80 of Thomson, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday May 29, 2013, at home surrounded by his family. Cremation rights have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at a later date. A memorial scholarship for a graduating West Carroll senior will be established.
