Milledgeville 9 Grant Park 1
The Lady Missiles punched their first ever ticket to the state tournament with the eight run victory over the Grant Park Dragons on Monday in DeKalb. Milledgeville jumped out to a one to nothing first inning lead, added a run in the top half of the fourth and then exploded for four fifth inning runs and three more in the sixth.
In the top of the 4th, Brandie Gelwicks led off with a line drive triple to centerfield. Catcher Courtney Swalve stepped up next and slammed what should have been a 2-run home run. But the umpire said that Gelwicks missed the plate and called her out.

The one run scored by the Dragons was the only run allowed by the Missiles during tournament play - and it was unearned. Lady Missile Emily Bush held Grant Park to just three hits in the game while walking no one and fanning nine. Kelsey Hayen went two for three at the plate with two runs scored and a run batted in. Bush and teammate Kaleigh Leddy were both two for four. Bush also scored two runs and had an RBI.
