Roman Resigns as Cougars Head Coach

Highland Community College Men’s Basketball Head Coach Zac Roman announced his resignation on Wednesday, May 3 stating that he would like to pursue other coaching opportunities.

Roman served one year as assistant coach for the Cougars before taking the head coaching position at the start of the 2010-2011 season. In his two seasons as head coach, the Cougars compiled a 51-16 record, winning two Arrowhead Conference titles and one a Region IV Championship in 2012.

“We are very grateful to Zac for two outstanding seasons as head coach of the Cougars. He certainly has carried on the championship tradition of Highland Cougar basketball,” said Highland Athletic Director Pete Norman. “He will be missed by all of Cougar Nation. We wish Zac the best of luck in his future endeavors.”

Highland officials will begin the search for the next head coach in the coming weeks. Basketball Times magazine ranked the Cougars #5 in their “USA’s Best JC Programs in the 2000’s” with 14 consecutive Arrowhead Conference titles, 8 Region IV Championships, and 5 trips to the NCJAA National Tournament.
