Milledgeville Cruise NightMilledgeville held their first Cruise Night Saturday, June 14, and organizers say it was a major success. Fifty-three vehicles registered and, despite the questionable weather a few hours before the event, at least forty-five vehicles showed up, including many cars from the mid to late 1950s, a 1961 Milledgeville Fire Truck, and a 1999 VW/Trike 1835 Strokes motorbike. Prizes were raffled off and each vehicle received a gift from the Milledgeville State Bank, who was one of the sponsors of the event. Trophies were handed out in several categories including some by make and model and, of course, Best of Show. The Awards included the Sylvia Schneiner Memorial Award, which was presented to Bill Duncan for his 1959 Ford Hardtop. The event ended with Ed Schneiner in his 1955 Chevy two door Sudan Deluxe leading a parade of vintage vehicles on a cruise around town. About half of the cars went out for the drive, including the 1961 Fire Truck which followed up the end of the line. Go back to Prairie Advocate Home Page |
