Every year since 1985, Harold and Kay Andresen have awarded the Randy and Rodney Memorial Scholarship to graduating seniors at Chadwick-Milledgeville High Schools in memory of their sons. Even though they were afflicted with muscular dystrophy they still managed to attend High School and graduate with honors in 1979 and 1980 from Chadwick High School.

Now the scholarship program named the Andresen Memorial Scholarship has expanded to include all graduating seniors in Carroll County High Schools. The awards are based primarily on the needs of the students with consideration given to scholastic ability, moral character, leadership qualities and community involvement.

There were a total of nineteen $1000 scholarships given in 2013. They include from Eastland HS: Matt Keppen, son of Jon and Lori Keppen of Lanark, plans to attend Central College in Pella, IA and major in mathematics; Kailynn Palmer, daughter of Bruce and Heather Schlueter of Shannon, will study pharmacy at NIACC in Iowa; Christa Vandenburg, daughter of Patrick and Tricia Vandenburg of Lanark, plans to attend Highland Community College in Freeport to study business and communications; Carli Snider, daughter of Steve and Laura Snider of Lanark, plans to attend Roosevelt University to study business management; Bryce Shaner, daughter of Mindy Walrath and Fred Shaner of Lanark, plans to attend Marquette to study biomedical sciences; Kimberly Johnson, daughter of Timothy and Denise Johnson of Shannon, will attend Northern Illinois University of DeKalb to study accountancy/entrepreneurship; Katherine Murphy, daughter of Brian and Sandra Murphy of Shannon, plans to attend Highland Community College to major in accounting; Bailey Lauder, daughter of Debbi Lauder of Lanark, plans to attend Elmhurst College and study communications sciences and disorders.

Andresen Farms Ag 2013 $1,000 Scholarship winners are (L to R) Janelle Dykstra, daughter of Mark and Ann Dykstra of Thomson. She plans to attend Clinton Community College; Jacob Ritchie, son of Mike and Ruth Ritchie fo Mount Carroll. Jacob will attend Blackhawk College to pursue welding and pipe fitting; and Jared Root, son of Jim and Kathy Root of Savanna, who plans on attending Midwest Industrial Trade School in Stockton to learn welding. Not available for photo is Kylie Beaston, daughter of Donald Beaston and Lisa Holmes of Savanna. She will attend HCC Freeport to study Ag Business Management. All graduates are from West Carroll HS.

West Carroll HS: Benjamin Rogers, son of Linda Rogers of Savanna, will attend Western Illinois University in Macomb for music education; Kaylee Vos, daughter of Brian and Penney Kaufman of Thomson, will attend Sauk Valley Community College in Sterling, to begin working on a nursing degree; Charlotte Thomas, daughter of Sue Mangler of Savanna, plans to study business at the University of Idaho; Morgan Ashby, daughter of Jim and Jeannette Ashby of Thomson, plans to attend St. Ambrose College to study physical therapy training; Tayte Hunter, daughter of Richard and Debbi Hunter of Savanna, will attend the University of Wisconsin Platteville, studying computer science.

Milledgeville HS: Elizabeth Bryant, daughter of Ted and Becky Bryant of Chadwick, will attend Monmouth College, to study psychology; Kelsey Hayen, daughter of Daryl and Tammy Hayen of Milledgeville, plans to attend North Central College, to study exercise science; Emily Bush, daughter of Drew and Karmin Bush of Chadwick, plans to attend Heartland College to study psychology; Sarah Leif, daughter of Terry and Karen Leif of Chadwick, will attend Highland College, not sure of her line of study; Carli Hunter, daughter of Shawn and Becky Hunter of Chadwick, plans to attend St. Ambrose University, to pursue a career in nursing; Andrew Wiersema, son of Bernard and Janet Wiersema of Chadwick, plans to attend Bradley University in Peoria, to study pre-Med.
