GITAP Returns to Morrison

The 10th Grand Illinois Trails and Parks (GITAP) bicycle tour visited Morrison on Flag Day, June 14, 2012. One hundred and sixty bicyclists made their way through Morrison, overnighting at Morrison Rockwood State Park, where the Morrison Friends of the Park hosted activities from noon until dinner.

Musical entertainment by a bluegrass band was held in the evening, with members of the community sharing their hospitality to the riders during the afternoon and evening.

GITAP is sponsored by the League of Illinois Bicyclists with support from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and this is the 4th time GITAP has traveled to Rockwood, one of the favorite destinations for riders. It’s an all volunteer operation, with any profits going to support LIB and its state-wide bicycle programs.
