Independence Day Fireworks!

Residents of Northwest Illinois are in for some fun this 4th of July Holiday. Many towns are hosting fireworks, activities, and fun for all to enjoy. Here is a quick list of a few of the happenings in the area.

Hanover Days runs June 29 thru July 4, starting with the Backstreet Players presentation of “Steel Magnolias” Friday, June 29 thru Sunday, July 1. The Hanover HS Alumni Banquet & Dance takes place Saturday. Tuesday, July 3 features the American Legion Beef Roast, Parade, Skateboard Competition, Canoe Race, lots of kid’s games, all ending with Fireworks at dusk. The morning of the 4th of July features the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Pancake Breakfast. (See full page ad in this issue).

June 30th: Emmanual Reformed Church in Morrison will be the site of a car show with registration beginning at 3:00.

July 3: Shannon’s 4th of July Celebration will have “The Area’s Finest Fireworks Display” at dusk, held at the Shannon Lions Park on the east edge of the Village, sponsored by Eastland Feed and area Farmers. A pork chop sandwich supper, hosted by the Shannon Lion’s Club, runs from 5 to 7:30. Get your blood pressure checked by the Shannon Ambulance Assoc., also from 5 to 7:30. An Ice Cream Social starts at 5 pm, and a Flag Burning Ceremony performed by the Shannon American Legion starts at 7 pm.

July 3rd: Savanna Fireworks at dusk held at the High School athletic field;

July 4th: Mt.Carroll Parade line up at 5:30, Parade at 6:00, Fireworks at dusk at the athletic field. Firemen will be serving pork chops from 10-2 at the Fire Station, and then proceed to the Athletic Field to continue their annual concession stand. This year “Mississippi Man” will be performing at the Fire Station from 1-5.
