Another successful Membership Appreciation Breakfast is in the books. A huge thank you goes out to our COUNTRY agents, their assistants, and our board of directors for all their help. It certainly would not have been pulled off without all their hard work. We served over 450 members and that is no easy feat in 4 hours. They all stayed on top of their duties and pitched in where ever the extra help was needed. Two years ago, we moved the breakfast out of July and into June. At that point it seemed all of our summer events were in July so we felt it would alleviate some of the chaos. Moving it to June has certainly not affected our attendance!
As for our door prize winners here is the list of those who won. The iPAD which was donated by the COUNTRY agents went to James Kloepping. Candles were won by Stan Wagner, Richard Holy, Joe Rath, and Merle Holy; the 2 Farm Bureau Gift Baskets went to Vernon Law and Robert Roiland; the 2 Fruit Baskets were won by James Quest and Viola Workman; the 2 meat certificates: John Anzalone and Rich Kliman; Carroll Service Fuel Cards go to John Pokropinski and John Hartman; the Farm Bureau hats were won by Ed Knirlberger, Ed Arb, and Robert Nolte; Farm Bureau Personalized Gate Signs: Joyce Stadel, Jodell Suiter, Ken Rausch, and Don Law; and the kids prizes went to: Sarah Wallander, Marcus Allen, and Andrew Law. Congratulations to all the winners!
Next week we kick off the July library programs. In June, we saw over 100 kids between the libraries we visited. The program continues to grow each year as more and more parents hear about our programs. In July, we will be talking about “Planting the Wild Garden”. We will be working with soil for our activity and then having a soil profile snack.
We will be at the York Township Library on Tuesday, July 16th at 10 a.m., at the Lanark Public Library on Wednesday, July 17 at 10 a.m. and at the Mount Carroll Public Library on Thursday, July 18 at 3 p.m. Contact your library to RSVP by two days prior to their event. Come join us for an hour of fun-filled education! There is no cost to attend our library programs so sign up today!
The 2013 Tractor Drive is full! We have developed quite the group of followers since we started back in 2007. We began back then with only 52 drivers and now for the last two years we have maxed out at 75 drivers. Where do our followers come from? We get a majority of our riders from out of the county. In fact, a number of them come from Iowa. Next week I will post our tractor drive route if you would like to come see the drivers along the way. We will have a variety of color in our parade.
Tractor Drives have become quite the popular event. I never noticed them before until after we held ours. Some range in distance from 30-40 miles up to those that last 2 to 4 days long! I cannot imagine doing a 4 day drive. I heard last year that there was one drive in Iowa that had so many sign up for their drive that the last tractor left the starting point at the same time the lead tractor stopped for lunch! I cannot even begin to visualize keeping that all straight!
