Farm Bureau at a glanceGo To The Carroll County Farm BureauBy Chastity Welch, Carroll County Manager"Knee high by the Fourth of July" is quite an old phrase. Over the past few years or as far back as I can remember, corn has been more than knee high by the Fourth. However this year is an exception. I don't expect to see corn to my waist but I know we will see knee high corn. The Farm Bureau office will be closed on Friday, July 4. We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday. Farm Bureau® members have the opportunity to learn more about how local government impacts you. Carroll County Farm Bureau in cooperation with JoDaviess and Stephenson County Farm Bureaus and the Illinois Farm Bureau is sponsoring a conference to address current local government issues. The three-hour Local Government Conference will be held on July 29, 2008 at 12:30, in Stephenson County at the Lena Community House. It will be preceded by a meal beginning at 11:30. This is an opportunity for you to learn the latest, share your thoughts and ask questions. Attendees will be provided an overview of statewide issues affecting local government-including new legislation-plus a focus on three other major topics: Local Government Budgeting, Trends in Local Government, and Local Road Systems. Speakers include Illinois Farm Bureau specialists and local government officials that deal with these topics day-to-day. There is no charge for attendance, but advance registration is required.
