Larry Edmund Grenoble

Larry Edmund Grenoble, age 61, of Mount Carroll, Illinois died on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at FHN Memorial Hospital, Freeport, Illinois. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home in Mount Carroll. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. one-hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Larry’s memory. Larry was born July 26, 1950 in Savanna, the son of Stover Edmund and Betty Lou (Curboy) Grenoble. He was raised on the family farm and attended the Mt. Carroll Schools. Larry remained farming with his parents on the family farm until 1977. He spent the next thirty-five years until the present working at the Rolling Hills Progress Center, Lanark.

While on the family farm, Larry enjoyed raising chickens, ducks and geese. He loved the outdoors including gardening flowers and vegetables, mushroom hunting, berry picking, bird watching and fishing. He canned much of the produce he raised. He especially loved to spend time with family and visit neighbors.

Larry will be dearly missed by his brother, Brad (Kathy) Grenoble of Morrison; Pam (Glen) Heisler of Mt. Carroll; a special cousin, Patty (Darius) Edler of Lena; four nieces, Brooke, Laura, Jennifer and Brittany; two nephews, Bradley and Greg; ten great nieces and great nephews; and his companion cat, Muffy. Larry is preceded in death by his father in 1975, his mother in 2009 and all of his grandparents.

Donna G. Hayen

Donna G. Hayen, 79, of rural Chadwick, died Monday, July 2, 2012 at her home.

Donna was born April 16, 1933 in Bentley, ND a daughter of Ray and Grace (Gaines) Burdell. She married Charles H. Hayen on April 25, 1953 in Milledgeville and he passed away January 29, 2009. Donna was the office manager for Hayen Electric in Milledgeville for 20 years until her recent retirement in 2010. She and Chuck farmed in the Milledgeville/Chadwick area for several years and she also worked at the former Clough Drug Store in Milledgeville.

Donna enjoyed going dancing with her husband on the weekends. In her free time she made scarves for her family and friends and loved to sew and knit.

Surviving are her children Kathy Hayen (Wayne Koch) of Mara, Minnesota; Roger (Kymberly) Hayen and Daryl (Tammy) Hayen both of Milledgeville; a sister Sue Bardell of Columbus, Ohio; a brother Ray Bardell of Milledgeville and 6 grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM Friday, July 6 in McDonald Funeral Home, Milledgeville with Reverend Rick Kock, pastor of Dutchtown Church of the Brethren, officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling. Visitation is from 9-11 AM Friday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established in her memory.
