Bernice G Miller, age 95, of Sterling and formerly of Polo died Thursday Aug. 4, 2011 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling. She was born Oct. 16, 1915 in Nelson, IL the daughter of Victor and Effie (Talmadge) Schick. She married David A Miller Nov. 19, 1936 in Dixon. She had been head of Housekeeping at KSB Hospital in Dixon prior to her retirement. She was also a homemaker and farmed with her husband.

She was a member of the Brookville United Methodist Church, the Ogle County Homemakers and Farm Bureau

Bernice was an avid reader and an excellent pie baker. She enjoyed playing cards and games with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jan. 10, 1966, a son James Miller, sons in law Leonard Wubbena and Herman A Ukena and brothers Lester and Harry Schick.

She is survived by her children Elizabeth (Duane) Schupbach of Thompson, Oliver (Margaret) Miller of Girard, IL, Joan Wubbena of Dixon, Tom (Cindy) Miller of Stillwater MN, daughter in law Cindy Miller of Polo, 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 1 sister Mary Ellen (Edgar) Engelkens of Freeport, IL and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be on Saturday Aug. 6, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Jones Funeral Home in Dixon with Jerry Martz officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the funeral home. A memorial has been established. Condolences may be sent online at www.thejonesfh.com.

Michelle A. Robertson

Michelle A. Robertson, age 41 of Savanna, Illinois, died Sunday, August 7, 2011 at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna after a lengthy battle with cancer. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Savanna with Father Dennis Atto as Celebrant. Cremation rites will be accorded following the mass and burial of her cremated remains will take place in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Savanna. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m., prior to the mass at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. A memorial fund has been established in Michelle’s memory.
