Morrison Police Respond to Armed Robbery at Casey’s General Store
On the morning of Friday, August 9, 2013), at approximately 3:12 a.m., Morrison Police responded to Casey’s General Store, 602 E. Lincolnway, Morrison, for a Robbery in progress. Morrison Police responded immediately but the suspect had left.
During the investigation, Morrison Police learned that a single male suspect entered Casey’s wearing a hooded jacket, mask, and socks on his hands. The suspect had a brief confrontation with a Casey’s employee just inside the door and walked behind the counter toward the cash register. The suspect then displayed a knife and forced the employee to open the cash register. The suspect removed the entire cash drawer with an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene.
At approximately 8:12 a.m., Morrison Police arrested Tyler R. Engelkins, age 26 of Morrison, charging Engelkins with Armed Robbery. Engelkins was transported to the Whiteside County Jail.
The Morrison Police were assisted by the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office. This investigation continues.
Morrison Police Chief Brian Melton reports the following arrests made and citations issued since Friday, August 2, 2013. The following Arrests are reported.
On Sunday, August 4, 2013, at approximately 5:35 pm, Morrison Police received a complaint of a possible impaired driver leaving a campground near Lyndon. The complainant provided police with a description of the vehicle. Morrison Police then observed a vehicle matching the description traveling northbound on IL Route 78, just south of Morrison. After observing the vehicle, Morrison Police conducted a traffic stop on Genesee Avenue in Morrison for at least one moving violation.
As a result of the investigation, the driver, Rachel M. Tucker, age 32 of Morrison, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and Improper Lane Usage. Tucker was transported to the Whiteside County Jail, was processed and then released with a Notice to Appear for September 12, 2013.
On Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at approximately 7:33 am, Morrison Police responded to a complaint of Retail Theft at Sullivan’s Foods, Morrison. As a result of the investigation, Anthoni J. Patten, age 18 of Morrison, was arrested for Retail Theft. Patten was transported to the Whiteside County Jail, was processed and then released with a Notice to Appear on September 9, 2013.
On Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at approximately 8:40 am, Morrison Police arrested Marshall Smith, age 28 of Morrison, pursuant to an Arrest Warrant issued by Whiteside County charging Smith with Possession Drug Paraphernalia – Failure to Appear. Smith was transported to the Whiteside County Jail, was processed and then released after posting the required cash bond.
The following Citations were issued.
08-08-13, Charles M. Lange, 21, Albany - Operating Uninsured Vehicle & Ordinance – Speeding;
08-08-13, Female Juvenile, 16, Morrison - Graduated License – Violation to Number of Passengers and Ordinance – Speeding.
The public is reminded that these are merely charges and all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Deceased Woman Found in Rural Fulton
Whiteside County Sheriff’s Department are releasing the name of the female subject, who was found deceased in a field in rural Fulton on Aug, 7, 2013 The female is Janice E. Judd 53 years old of Fulton, died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Judd was located in a field near her residence, following a search conducted by Whiteside County Sheriff Deputies, Carroll County Deputies, Illinois State Police, as well as the Illinois State Police airplane, and Thomson Police Department.
