EPC Rolls Over Thunder

Despite West Carroll striking first on offense Friday night in Pearl City, the EPC Wildcatz stormed back to take the lopsided 38-14 win in the season’s opening contest.

Three and a half minutes into the opening quarter, the Thunder’s Joey Sullivan dashed 46-yards to put West Carroll up six to nothing. From there EPC’s ground game and defense took over and held the Thunder at bay.

On the ‘Catz first drive, Mikki Stichter dove into the end zone from a yard out to knot the score at six. A 23 yard scoring strike from quarterback Drake Walker to Ramsay Paulson and a 10 yard TD run by Cody Polizzi made the score 30-6 at the halftime intermission.

Stichter added another two yard scoring run on EPC’s first drive of the second half to make the score 38-6. The Thunder added another score and two-point conversion late in the contest to make the final margin of victory.

Stichter paced the EPC ground attack with one hundred yards on fifteen carries and three scores.

Missiles Fall To Marcos

Both squad’s had their ground games in high gear, but it was Polo who was able to convert those rushes into points on the score board, taking the 34-8 win Friday evening at Floyd Daub Field in Milledgeville.

The Marcos Zach Hagemann and Austin Reeder each scored a pair of touchdowns and the Marco’s rushed for two hundred ninety eight yards. The Missiles countered with two hundred thirteen yards on the ground. Milledgeville was led by Daniel Walker’s one hundred forty three yards rushing and scored the Missiles only touchdown. Reeder carried the football twenty times for one hundred fifty one yards while teammate Hagemann added seventy-seven yards on twelve carries. Milledgeville was led on defense by Kyle Imel who accounted for fourteen tackles and teammate Kaneron DawTyne added a dozen tackles. Hagemann paced Polo’s defense with ten tackles.

Mustangs Ground Fulton

Morrison scored early and often while keeping their Big Rivers rivals at bay to come away with the opening week 45-0 shut out win in Fulton on Friday night. The Mustangs took a twelve to nothing lead into the second quarter as Andy Schaver scored on first quarter scoring runs of six and one yards. Schaver again scored and kicked the extra point in the second quarter to make the score nineteen to zero at the half.

The Mustangs controlled the third quarter with three more scores with quarterback Danny Dennehey finding Mark McDonnell on a sixty seven yard scoring strike and Rowdy Lathrop scoring a pair of touchdowns. Morrison’s Zach Lyerla scored on a three-yard run in the final quarter to make the final margin of victory for the Mustang’s who returned to Morrison with the famed Wooden Shoe trophy.
