Carroll County Farm Bureau

By Chastity Welch, Farm Bureau Manager

One of the many things our organization is known for is the ability for our members to become actively involved. Many of the Action Teams and other teams available to be a part of only require a small time commitment. Illinois Farm Bureau is currently taking applications for their Action Teams. Brochure applications are now available at County Farm Bureaus or through the www.ilfb.org website at http://www.ilfb.org/get-involved/grow-committee-success/action-teams.aspx.

Applications are due December 10, 2012.

Applicants can select the TEAM that matches their interests---Public Relations, Education, Membership, and Quality of Life. Each TEAM is comprised of 10-15 men and women with a variety of leadership and life experiences. TEAMS meet twice a year to turn their ideas and expertise into specific Farm Bureau projects that yield results.

Recent Membership ACTION TEAM efforts resulted in the first ever Youth Ambassador to be a link between colleges and IFB.

The Public Relations ACTION TEAM displayed pro-ag advertising on “L” trains and in train stations in the Chicago metro area.

The Education ACTION TEAM is educating the non-farm public through commodities posters to be used at fairs and various other events.

Quality of Life ACTION TEAM helped numerous county Farm Bureaus keep their members safer and healthier by displaying health and safety messages on large digital photo frames that can easily travel to events around the county.

Can you give up two days? If you don’t want to take part in one of the Action Teams at the state level, we also have the same structure here at the Carroll County Farm Bureau. You can join locally. All of our Action Teams only meet as needed which is a huge plus for our volunteers. Contact our office today if you are interested in hearing what opportunities there are for you! We also have a Women’s Committee and our Young Leaders who are always looking for new members and program ideas.

By the time you read this, there should be harvest equipment rolling in the fields, which also means they are rolling down the roads. Please watch out for them, pay attention to the flashing lights, and their signals. There have been far too many tragic accidents lately and we certainly do not need anymore. Also, farmers, we have SMV decals here at the office and Pass with Caution signs. The SMV’s are $5 each and the Pass with Caution signs are free.

We have had a number of people inquiring on if we have Platbooks. Yes, we have the 2011 platbooks here in stock. They are $26.63 each.
