There is a new “Patriot Guard” in Lanark. He is easily visible at the home of Nelson Preston on south Broad St. in Lanark. Preston recently finished painting him after the concrete dragon adorned the yard for 8 years. He saw a beautifully painted dragon in Stockton last year while deer hunting. The lady of the house told him about the ugly one in Lanark, and she just HAD to paint hers. Nothing like peer pressure! Preston, who is the assistant to Butch (Claude) Lease, Superintendent of the Carroll County Veterans Assistance Commission (VAC) in Mount Carroll, hopes the new Patriot Guard will bring out the patriotism in people.
