Susan M. Frederick

Susan M. Frederick, age 97, formerly of Milledgeville, died Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Big Meadows Nursing Home in Savanna.

Susan was born on February 21, 1914 in Morrison the daughter of Glenn L. and Helen A. (Carlton) Knox. She married Vincent Frew in 1932 in Morrison . He died in 1966. She later married Walter “Mannie” Frederick on March 13, 1964. He died in December of 2000. She was a homemaker and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Milledgeville.

Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis (Chuck) Yoder of Phoenix, Ariz. and Pamela (Larry) Adolph of Mt. Carroll; one step daughter, Mary Ann (Dennis) Berns of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two sons, Burdette (Kit) Frew of Columbia, Mo. and Bill (Lisa) Frew of San Diego, Calif.; 21 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by both husbands; her parents; one son, Gary Frew; two brothers, Cecil Knox and Keith Knox; and one sister, Marjorie Knox Kerlin Burton.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at 6:00 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home, 520 Holcomb Avenue, Milledgeville with Reverend Kathy Burkheimer of Trinity Lutheran Church in Milledgeville officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be from 4 – 6 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials have been established to Genesis Hospice in Clinton, Iowa and the Diabetes Association.

Dalvin L. Johnson

Dalvin L. Johnson, age 53, of Hanover, Illinois, died Sunday, September 4, 2011 at his home. Cremation rites will be accorded. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hanover with Reverend David Vidler officiating. Burial will be held in Evergreen Cemetery, Sabula, Iowa. A gathering will be held from 10:00-11:30 a.m., prior to the service at the church.

Ethel Hendrick

Ethel Hendrick, age 86, of Savanna died Thursday, September 8, 2011 after a brief stay in the hospital. She was a loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 12, 2011 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mt. Carroll. Burial will be in Spring Lake Cemetery, Savanna. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Sunday, September 11, 2011 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. In lieu of flowers memorials may be donated for Mooseheart.

Kenneth Duane Pilgrim

Kenneth Duane Pilgrim, 78, of 801 28th Ave. North, Clinton, Iowa, died at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at Eagle Point Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Clinton. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2011, at the Law – Jones Funeral Home, 1854 Illinois Route 84, Thomson, Illinois. Burial will follow at the Upper York Cemetery, Argo Fay, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, prior to the funeral at Law – Jones Funeral Home.
