Hanover's Mallardfest Celebration

Plans are well underway for the annual MALLARDFEST celebration on Saturday, September 19th in Hanover, Illinois. The festivities will be held at White Park!

The day will begin with a children's program at 10:30 am at the Hanover Library. The program will feature Rob Erdmann-Magical Storyteller. The children will be sure to enjoy the magic, puppets and stories of the entertaining Rob Erdmann.

The Mallardfest Parade will begin at 12:00 pm and will feature Mr. and Ms. Mallard and a variety of floats, fire trucks, and tractors. The River Ridge Middle and High School bands, along with the Galena High School and Darlington High School band will be participating in the parade.

After the parade, head over to White Park for lunch at the locally sponsored food booths. Among the offerings this year will be Pork Chop Sandwiches, Pizza, Hot Dogs/Chili Dogs, BBQ's, Funnel Cakes, Lemon and Lime Shake Ups, and much more. Beverage choices will include bottled water, beer and wine (provided by Hanover's own Rocky Waters Vineyard).

The park festivities begin right after the parade with the always popular children's entertainer "Jo Jo the Clown". Other activities for the children include an Inflatable Obstacle Course, and a pumpkin coloring contest.

Throughout the rest of the afternoon, activities will include music by "The Ledgends" a great local band, Tethered Hot Air Balloon Rides, Pontoon Boat Rides on the Apple River, Duck Calling Contest, Apple River Golf Challenge (across the Apple River), and Apple River Duck Retrieve. The late afternoon/early evening activities will include a Ducks Unlimited Auction, Button Drawing offering FANTASTIC prizes.

The final band of the day, "Hanover Stimulus Package "will begin at 6:00 pm. The Mallardfest festival will end with a beautiful FIREWORKS display over the banks of the Apple River at dusk.
