Illinois Farm Bureau is now taking applications for Action Teams. What is an Action Team? This is the new version of a committee. Instead of meeting monthly, or meeting quarterly, the Action Teams meet twice a year to turn their ideas and expertise into specific Farm Bureau projects that yield results. Each TEAM is comprised of 10-15 men and women with a variety of leadership and life experiences. Applicants can select the TEAM that matches their interests---Public Relations, Education, Membership, and Quality of Life.
Recent Membership ACTION TEAM efforts resulted in the start of Collegiate Farm Bureau at the University of Illinois. The Public Relations ACTION TEAM displayed Family Farm signs along busy highways. The Education ACTION TEAM is educating the non-farm public through pro Ag messages on buses in Champaign, IL. Quality of Life ACTION TEAM developed the Rules of the Country Road booklet to help keep everyone safer on rural roads during busy times like planting and harvest.

Football season is in full force! It is Wednesday as I type this and the first day I have not watched a football game since Saturday. My fantasy teams are split with one being 1-0 and the other being 0-1. EPC Varsity is 2-0 and Tucker’s seventh grade team is 2-0. I would say this is a great start to the season! Now even though I love the heat, I would certainly enjoy watching Friday night games with a sweatshirt versus sweating.
