It is time to start planning for the EPC Homecoming events for this fall. Once again, Eastland and Pearl City will be combining their Homecoming events.

“The theme this year is “Animation Domination,” said MaryBeth Landherr, teacher and Homecoming coordinator at Eastland High School. “Each class has chosen an animated television network (Seniors-Nickelodeon, Juniors-Cartoon Network, Sophomores-Disney, and Freshmen-Boomerang) to use for their floats, locker decorations, and skits.”

The Homecoming festivities are scheduled for the week of September 17th through the 22nd. Homecoming Week starts Monday, Sept. 17, with volleyball action, as the Lady Cougars host East Dubuque in Lanark.

Thursday afternoon in downtown Lanark, vendors will host a Sidewalk Sale from 1 to 7 pm. Join in as a vendor, with free set-up, of visit as a shopper!

The parade will be on Thursday night, September 20th at 5:30 p.m. in Lanark with set up starting at 4:30 along E. Pearl Street.

While you are in downtown Lanark for the parade, visit the Lanark Chamber of Commerce “Hometown Cookout” from 4:30 to 7 pm at the Heritage Center, 106 S. Broad St. Cookout specials include pork chop sandwiches, brat or hot dog meals. Proceeds go toward the Lanark Chamber Scholarship Fund.

The Community Pep Rally will follow at 7:00 in the Pearl City High School gymnasium. The football game is Friday, September 21st in Pearl City and we will be playing the LeWin Panthers.

The Homecoming Dance is Saturday, September 22nd and will be held in Lanark.

“We would like to encourage anyone to have an entry in the parade,” Landherr said. “It does not have to be anything elaborate; it could be a decorated car or truck or even a motorcycle. We would like to make this year’s parade the best one ever.”

If you or your business would like to participate in the 2012 Homecoming parade, or would like more information on the week’s activities, please call Eastland High School at 815-493-6341 or email: mlandherr@eastland308.com.

Lanark Lions Candy Day This Week

The Lanark Lions Club will be on the streets Thursday, Sept. 20th and Friday, Sept. 21st. When you see them in their colorful vests shaking their cans, please think of how your donation will help a visual or hearing impaired child. Please give until it feels good! And enjoy your Lions Candy. Pictured from left to right: District Governor Ruth Lyle, Jeff Hoak, and of course, “The Lion.” (Courtesy of Lion Jeff Hoak)
