EPC Edges Galena

The Wildcatz managed to escape Galena with a narrow eight point (21-13) victory on Friday evening in Galena. EPC opened the scoring in the first quarter on a forty yard run. The extra point kick by Skylar Paulson was good and the ‘Catz led 7-0.

The Pirates responded with a fifty nine yard TD run by Austin Long. Paulson added a twenty eight yard field goal to put EPC up 10-6 at the half.

A second field goal in the third quarter by Paulson and a fifteen yard TD toss from QB Tim Vandenburgh to Paulson with the two point conversion put the ‘Catz up 21-6 in the third.

The Pirates QB Long connected with Tyler Long for an eight yard touchdown to finished the scoring.

Junior running back Eric Schaney led the EPC ground game, rushing the football seventeen times for one hundred seventy three yards. EPC out rushed Galena 279-148 and 302-198 in overall offensive yardage in the contest. Austin Long led Galena with one hundred nine yards on sixteen carries.

Missiles Fall To Bulldogs

Despite a strong first quarter start, the Milledgeville Missiles couldn’t keep the momentum going and fell to the Freeport Aquin Bulldogs 44-12 Friday night in Freeport. A sixty seven yard TD run by Daniel Walker in the opening quarter put Milledgeville ahead and a forty two yard TD pass from Missile QB Kameron DawTye to Jordan Harris in the closing seconds of the first quarter put the Missiles up 12-0.

Freeport Aquin regrouped after the intermission and found the end zone on the first play of the third quarter as Aquin QB Nolan Brannick found Anthony Townsend on a thirty three yard strike. Two more Brannick TD passes put the Bulldogs up for good. Brannick found receiver Zach Moyer for two TD passes in the second half and a twenty yard run by Sawyer Shaw combined with a twenty eight yard field goal by Josh Furlong completed the scoring.

Milledgeville travels to Orangeville to face the Broncos on Friday night while the Bulldogs host the Warren Warriors.

West Carroll hosted the Le-Win Panthers on Friday night in Savanna and the visiting Panthers scored early and often to roll to the forty five point (59-14) victory. Le-Win scored a pair of TD’s on runs by Austin Mancosky and Tevin Sellers racked up eighty one yards on just four carries to add another score for the Panthers. Le-Win also scored through the air as QB Evan Heer found Tyler Oakley on a scoring strike.

The Thunder’s scores came on TD runs by Jeff Casey and Tristan Fox. Mason Vanhook led the West Carroll ground game with fifty two yards. West Carroll travels to South Beloit to battle the Sobos while Le-Win faces EPC in Pearl City for the ‘Catz homecoming game.
