Antoinette Nahlik

Antoinette Nahlik, age 94 of Livonia, Michigan, formerly of Savanna, Illinois, died on June 30, 2011 in Livonia. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 8, 2011 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Savanna. Burial will take place in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Savanna. A visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., prior to the mass at the church. A memorial fund has been established in Antoinette’s memory. Antoinette was born on September 2, 1916, the daughter of Frank and Helena (Gabriel) Cech in Chicago, Illinois. She married Frank N. Nahlik in a double wedding on January 4, 1948 along with her cousin Lillian (Roland) Hall in the Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, Cicero, Illinois. Frank died on November 12, 1994 in Clinton, Iowa. Antoinette was a homemaker who loved taking care of her family. She was a devout Catholic and truly enjoyed attending mass. Antoinette enjoyed singing and taking walks through nature. Most of all, Antoinette cherished spending time with her family and friends.

Antoinette is survived by her dear cousins, Martin G. (Marie) Gabriel and Lillian A. (nee Gabriel) Hall; her adopted son, John (Debbie) Nahlik and their three children, Jennifer, Patrick and Gregory. She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank; one daughter, Jennifer Nahlik; and one cousin, Roland Hall.

Helen Marie Yenney

Helen Marie Yenney, age 95 of Savanna, Illinois, died on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center South, Clinton. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 3, 2011 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday, July 2, 2011 at the Jones-Funeral Home, Savanna. Burial will take place in the Center Hill Cemetery, Mount Carroll. Memorials may be given to the Trinity Lutheran Church, Lanark in Helen’s memory. Online condolences and tributes may be left for the family at www.lawjonesfuneralhome.com.

Helen was born on August 24, 1915, the daughter of Gottlieb and Augusta (Wink) Schultz in Milledgeville, Illinois. Helen attended the North Otter Creek grade school in rural Lanark, Illinois. She attended the Lanark High School, graduating with the class of 1933. After graduation, Helen attended Normal Teaching College in DeKalb, Illinois, graduating in 1935. She was united in marriage to Donald R. Yenney on May 6, 1939, at the Lutheran Parsonage in Clinton, Iowa. Helen and Donald were married for forty-six years before Donald passed away in 1986.

Helen taught for four years in rural schools, teaching one year at Chamber Grove in Ogle County and three years at Pleasant Hill in Carroll County. Helen loved to teach and continued to tutor for many years. Helen was confirmed into the Lutheran Faith in 1931 and was a lifelong member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Lanark.

Helen will be dearly missed by two daughter, Virginia (Bill) Thulen of Savanna and Carol Kerkove of Savanna; two sons, Marvin (Mary) Yenney of Savanna and Stanley Yenney of Savanna; fifteen grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; one son, Arnold Yenney; and one sister, Mable Schultz

Mary E. Tuscan

Mary E. Tuscan, age 84, of Savanna, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna, Illinois. Cremation rites will be accorded and a private family burial will take place at a later date in Hermansville, Michigan.

Leroy P. Gablin

Leroy P. Gablin, age 83, of Marshalltown, Iowa, formerly of Thomson, Illinois died Monday, June 27, 2011 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2011, at the Law – Jones Funeral Home, Thomson. Visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 1, prior to the service at the funeral home. Following the funeral, Leroy wished to have cremation rites accorded and burial will take place in St. Ireneus Cemetery in Clinton, Iowa.
