The Long Spurs are coached by Thomas Casey, Greg Harmston, Brock Wackerlin, Keith Gerlich, Butch Mobley, Ernie Bates, Jim Binns, Tom Weber, Mike Haring, Dan Hartman, Dan Strohecker, and Mike Armstrong.

Almost every Shooter ended their season on a personal best. These Shooters competed with a heat index between 100-110 degrees on both days. Despite the heat, you could see smiles and looks of triumph on all their faces. Every Long Spurs Coach was overwhelmed with satisfaction and pride.

Thank you to all of our Sponsors, Parents and Participants for your support and dedication to making this season possible.

And to James “Lefty” Wackerlin, our Founder and Friend, and Wyatt Whitebread, our Son, Brother, Teammate and Friend, you are forever in our hearts.

More Sports Trivia

While Joe Tinker, Johnny Evers and Frank Chance are all members of the Baseball Hall of Fame, the tandem was a bit over hyped. At the height of their popularity, they turned just 56 double plays in 4 years. Johnny Evers even led the league once in errors with 44 at second base.

Yankee manager Bill Virdon, who piloted New York in 1974 and 1975, never won a game in Yankee Stadium. During Virdon’s tenure, the Bronx Bombers played their home games at Shea Stadium in Queens while the “House that Ruth Built” underwent renovations.

When Cardinals’ pitcher Jason Marquis and Red Sox catcher Jason Varitek squared off against each other in the 2004 World Series, it was the first time in major league history that Little League World Series participants faced each other as pitcher and batter in the Fall Classic.

Harry “Slug” Heilman was an odd hitter. The Detroit Tigers slugger won the American League batting title every other year from 1921-1927.

When the Nebraska Cornhuskers play their home games at Memorial Stadium, ot becomes the state’s third largest city.

George Blanda played in four different decades-from 1949 to 1975.

The first NFL Rookie of the Year was Alan Ameche, who won the award as a Baltimore Colt in 1955.

The school with the most college football championships? Yale, 18. Their last title was in 1927.

In the 1964 pre-season, then-owner Art Modell put a logo on the side of the Cleveland Browns helmets. The players dislike it so much (an interlocking “CB”), they ripped it off the helmets and have been adorn-free ever since.

Heading for the 19th hole? Experts say if you play a round of golf, then drink two cocktails, you’ve just gained more calories than you burned.

In 1965, Robert Mitura shot the ace of all aces with his 440-yard hole-in-one at the 10th hole of the aptly named Miracle Hills Golf Course in Omaha, Nebraska. Mitura was aided by a 50 mph wind and a 290-yard drop off.

According to Golf Digest, the odds of making two holes-in-one in a round of golf are 67 million to one.

In 2006, 12-year old Blake Hadden from North Augusta, South Carolina, recorded two holes-in-one in the 11-12 age group at the Future Masters. Hadden aced the 83-yard number 5 hole and the 140-yard number 11 hole at the Dothan Country Club in Alabama.
