Robert F. Stretton Jr., age 92, of Savanna, Illinois, died Friday, January 7, 2011, at home. Upon the request of the deceased, no services are planned and his body has been donated to science at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa. Memorials may be given in Robert’s memory to the Rural Savanna Fire Protection District, which he served as treasurer for 21 years.

Visitation will be held 4:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, January 9, 2011 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. Burial will be in the Lower York Cemetery, Thomson, Illinois. Bessie Rosie Marie Downing, age 90, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center, Clinton, Iowa. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 10, 2011 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mt. Carroll with Reverend Elizabeth Mascal officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll. Visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 10, 2011 at the Church prior to the service. Memorials may be given in Bessie’s memory for the Mt. Carroll Ambulance Association or the First Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Bob Petty, age 61, of rural Mt. Carroll, Illinois, died Friday, January 7, 2011, at his home. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at the Law – Jones Funeral Home in Savanna, Illinois. According to his wishes, Bob will be cremated following visitation.

Memorials may be given in Sue’s honor for the Hope Lodge in Rochester, Minnesota.
