Joanne Weigand

Joanne Weigand, age 74, died Sunday April 24, 2011 at Coventry Living Center in Sterling.

Joanne was born on September 9, 1936 in Aurora the daughter of Ival and Pauline (Phillips) Bennett. She married Ronald Weigand on May 9, 1986 in Aurora. Joanne was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Ronald of Milledgeville; three sons, Paul J. Fecht of Amarillo, Texas, Ronald W. Fecht of Sandwich and Mark A. (Teri) Fecht of Hinckley; one sister, Mary Lou Kent of Denver, Co; one brother, Dennis (Sharon) Bennett of Aurora; two step-daughters, Tammi (Scott) Hawk of Hinckley and Kimberly (Robert) Zachara of Maple Park; step-sons, Ronald (Julie) Weigand II of Warrenville and Scott Weigand of Southern Illinois; ten grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Thomas and Jack Bennett, one sister, Phillis Skokan.

Cremation rites have been accorded. There are no services. Arrangements were completed by the McDonald Funeral Home in Milledgeville.

Doris Aileen Judas

Doris Aileen Judas, age 86, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, died Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Mt. Carroll. Cremation rites will be accorded. A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at the First Lutheran Church, Mt. Carroll with Pastor Elizabeth Mascal officiating. Memorials may be directed to the First Lutheran Church and the Good Samaritan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Condolences and tributes may be left for the family at www.lawjonesfuneralhome.com

Aileen was born December 22, 1924 in Elliott, Iowa, the daughter of Clare and Bertha Ester (Kruse) Sandell. On August 30, 1947, Doris married Gene D. Judas. The celebrated 63 years of marriage. Gene passed away December 22, 2010.

Aileen was a good homemaker and Mother. She felt strongly about teaching her children “right from wrong.” Doris enjoyed sewing, hand-tooling and leather-work. She was talented at baking bread and loved canning just about everything.

Aileen was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Mt. Carroll. She worked 16 years as secretary for Culligan Water, alongside Gene, her husband. Aileen also worked for Eaton Corp., retiring in 1988.

Aileen is survived and lovingly remembered by; a daughter, Mary Lynn Judas of Chicago, Illinois; three sons, Steven (Terri) Judas of Ivor, Virginia, Kevin (Debra) Judas of Milledgeville, Illinois, and John (Michelle) Judas of Oakwood Hills, Illinois; five grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one sister, Myrle MacClaflin of Tempe, Arizona; one brother, Kruse (Diane) Sandell of Freeport, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; and two sisters in-law, Marian Ewalt of Freeport and Jeanette Judas of Mt. Carroll.

Aileen was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband and best friend, Gene Judas; one daughter, Ruth, in infancy; three sisters, Phyliss Sandell, Betty Ruth Temple and Flora May Sandell; and three brothers, Kenneth, William and Melvin Sandell.

Jason Getz

Jason Getz, 31, of Tulsa, Oklahoma went to be with the Lord on April 26, 2011 at his home.

Jason was born in Vicenza, Italy to William and Peggy (Burkholder) Getz of Waynesville, MO on May 28, 1979 formerly of the Mt. Carroll and Savanna area.

Jason attended Waynesville, MO schools from 1987 to 1995 and then attended and graduated from Iver C. Ranum High School in Westminster, CO in 1997.

Jason then joined the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Enterprise CVN65.

Jason was employed by Bama Corp. of Tulsa, OK. in the Mechanical Maintenance Dept.

Jason was in the Boy Scouts of America and became an Eagle Scout and enjoyed many family activities including vacations, skydiving, paintball, gaming, live theater and spending time with his many friends, family and extended family.

Jason is survived by his mother, Peggy Getz, Waynesville, MO. He is also survived by a sister, Staci Getz of Lone Tree, Colorado, his paternal grandparents, Paul and Marilyn Getz of Mt. Carroll, Illinois , aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends and members of his extended family.

Jason was preceded in death by his father, William Getz, U.S. Army (Ret.), and his maternal grandparents, Hase and Lois Burkholder.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial get together will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to the Fisher House Foundation, St. Louis VA Medical Center, 1 Jefferson Barracks Rd., St. Louis, MO 63125, a military housing for the families of hospitalized military personnel.

To know him was to love him, Jason will be greatly missed.

Robert L. Knuth

Robert L. Knuth, age 85, of Savanna, Illinois, died Thursday, April 28, 2011, in Savanna, surrounded by his family. Visitation will be held Monday, May 2, 2011, from 4 to 7:00 p.m. at the Law – Jones Funeral Home in Savanna. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 3, at the Savanna First United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Thomson officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, rural Savanna.

Ricky D. Phelps

Ricky Daniel Phelps, age 52, of Lanark, peacefully went home to be with Jesus at FHN Memorial Hospital, Freeport on Saturday, April 30, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at the Mt. Carroll Church of God with Reverend George Reser officiating. Burial will be in the Lanark Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll and also one hour prior to the service at the Church. A memorial fund has been established in Rick’s memory.
