Thunder Edges River Ridge

West Carroll scored three first inning runs and held River Ridge scoreless on three hits to take the 4-1 win in Hanover on Monday afternoon. Matt LaShelle went the distance on the mound for the Thunder, giving up one unearned run on three hits with three walks and eleven strikeouts. At the plate, Brian Gilbert provided a lot of offense with a base hit, home run and three runs batted in.

“Matt pitched a real good complete game,” said West Carroll head coach Brian Kamper. “Our hitting wasn’t as good as it should have been and we left twelve runners on base.” The Thunder were aided by five River Ridge miscues in the field. The victory improves West Carroll’s record to eight and nine overall and evens their record at three wins and three losses in conference play.

West Carroll Takes Victory From Galena

The Thunder put up five first inning runs and that proved to be more than enough as West Carroll topped the Pirates 9-1 on Thursday in Thomson. Thunder starting pitcher Hunter Hebeler took the win going three innings and limiting Galena to just a single hit. Austin Weller and Joey Sullivan would give West Carroll more than enough offense, with both hitting two run home runs in the contest. Jordan Barr and Matt LaShelle added doubles.

Hebeler was relieved by Tyler Brashaw who pitched the final four innings, giving up no runs or hits while walking two and striking out seven Pirate batters. “A well played team effort,” commented Thunder head coach Brain Kamper.
